I bet you will make out fine with it but all the books on pot growing suggest you stear clear of acidic african violet potting mix to grow in.

Good thing books are outdated and sometimes unproven then huh?

Yeah I remember some gro bibles saying floros are really good for growing, but nothing about CFLs being far superior.
The forum is way better than any book could want to be, let alone try.

you are prolly right, acidic soil is all the rage now a days I hear.
It's called ph up and down

I don't use it, I use peat/bark/perlite/worm/vermiculite mix

My point really is that thoese books can be for shit at times, they leave out stuff.

Like one I started on said to use T12HO wide spec floro tubes, wtf those r junk.

just a example, ive heard others tell me stupid shit they read.

BUT your book never told you to ignore NPK I'm betting.

Yeah I wouldn't want to do a grow in it, but I do like it for sprouting my seeds, because it seems to hold just the right amount of water for them, and both root and sprout seem to have no trouble going through it. They actually only spend 3-4 days in this before I move them to their large pots, and into Scott's Potting Soil.:peace:

Did some work in my vegging room today. It now looks like a space capsule! lol Put up e-blankets on the walls, and made my new reflectors for the CFL racks. I had cut my old one in half and used it this past week, though it wasn't big enough. Interesting to note that the two seedlings that were actually directly under it, were further developed than the three that were not. So I figured I'd better get it done! Watered the babies for the first time since their transplant, and they got their first dose of molassas and Superthrive. I'll be putting up new pics of them Sunday evening.

Yep, close, you have nicer floors though - I love the blonde wood. Thanks for the compliments - it only took three of 'em to get 'er done. Me, once I decide a space is for a particular thing, woe to the husband who puts anything else in there! lol:mrgreen::peace:

Day 13:
The little ones will be two weeks old tomorrow. Growing like little weeds, lol. Already can tell a difference between the Trainwreck, and Layla (Moby Dick). She's the one with the dowel rod. One of the babies burned it's leaf tip this evening - stretching her "arms" for the light, and well, she reached it.:-? Just the little tip. I'm going to borrow a better camera sometime soon, get some better pics of all my girls.
