Round Two. 7 grams in a tea..

Yo @ODanksta If You use too hot of water, it can kill some of the psilocybin molecules.
So essentially Your 7 grams that You put into hot water may have turned into 3-4 grams...
Maybe even less...
One time I made mushroom tea out of 12+ grams....and it didnt do anything at all...
 
This was a 2 ounce trim and larf test run. I pulled 6 grams but I think my griddle may have got a little to hot.. Taste good, but nowhere BHO.. I don't know I over heated it or if ISO just taste like shit.. But they have a real smooth floral taste.. But the aftertaste is kinda funky..

Very stable tho, not shatter but like a hard honey..

Fuck the tea man. I've tried it 4-5 times, some with lemon some without. I always feel sick and never trip. Now i sit down, weigh up my dose and then eat those fuckers plain, one by one. I never feel sick just eating plain mushrooms. My last 2 doses were each 7g, it was a lot to just eat plain, took me probably 20 minutes, but holy fuck I was flying about a half hour after I finished.

48hrs isn't much time between doses. Before you completely write off this batch, wait 2 weeks then munch down 7g without putting them in tea. I bet you will have a better trip

You made that with isopropyl alcohol? If you did it will always have a slightly weird taste that you're describing. Try growing your own shrooms

I was actually experimenting with that because I had heard if the water's too hot it'll mess the tea up. I straight up boiled my tea bags for 15 minutes just to see if it would work, and it did. So that's how I started to do it, the only reason I wanted to see if boiling them would work was the thought of the boiling water killing off any disgusting shit I might not want to drink... I guess it just made me feel better about drinking it lol. I boiled my 10g tea and that kicked my ass

Iso is always funky unless you do a quick wash, otherwise you'll end up with a bunch of chlorophyll in it that's why it's so black and smells planty. Still gets you high tho :D

Its most likely because a warm wash, even quick, in any liquid containing h20 is going to extract unwanted material. I skip the Iso and just do a 15sec gentle soak mix with frozen ethanol/buds gives a substance that will have little waxiness and a yellow to light Amber color. It will look like shatter after evaporating at about 155-160 for a long time I usually go 6-8 hours or more depending on oil thickness. Vac it if you can

Yeah I didn't freeze the ethanol or the trim because of kids running around upstairs. But I'm running another two ounces tonight. And I'm going to freeze everything and just use the griddle to evaporate the excess ethanol.

I fucked up because I was trying to heat it up to attempt to turn it into shatter. At one point it started smoking. So I'm assuming it was way too hot

Sounds like you've got youself setup in a basement that you can keep the kids out of... Props :) I also hang out in my basement that's also locked and off limits to the kids... A beer fridge with a freezer is an awesome addition ;)

Also go get a candy thermometer and keep it in your oil - you'll clearly know if you cross any of your key alkaloid Evaporative thresholds. I've found that if I don't quick wash (5-15sec) with frozen ethanol you'll pick up waxes (terpenes) which have lower Vapor points than thc these can burn and cause blackness if you're not watching temp.

Two questions at what time should I heat to evaporate the ethanol off at? And how do I get the ethanol to drain faster?

I use a coffee filter on a mason jar but it takes about 4 minutes to drain.

Would it be better to use a lowest mesh from a bubble bag to get it to drain faster?
 
I might as well wright this up clearly now...

My concentrate tek:

Credit to many internet sources over many years.

Inventory - everclear (strong as you can get - we have180 proof in co), best flower you can get, candy thermometer, pirex dish, saucepan, and (no flame stove and vent fan) or outside and any heat source, pint mason jar.

Freeze both your ethanol and ideally your fresh harvested herb if making smoke-able concentrate, decarb (see decarb process below) cured buds if making edibles out of the concentrate. Freeze herb in a freezer bag with no holes.

Freeze for 24+ hours...

Working in freezer take the frozen ethanol and pour it into the freezer bag of herb. Make sure you froze enough ethanol to cover the herb. Gently slosh the ethanol around in the freezer for ~15sec. At this point I have a double coffee filter fixed around the top of the mason jar, I cut a tiny hole in the corner of my bud/ethanol freezer bag and drain it through the coffee filters. If any green material falls through the hole in the ziplock into the coffee filter pull it out quickly, it will contribute undesirables if you let it sit in there. It's going to take a while for all the ethanol to drain through the filters. Don't squeeze the bag, do squeeze the filter once you fish all the green out.

This pint mason jar can go right into a water bath @ 160-165 (just keep it below ethanols vapor point 173) and when the volume reduces can be transferred to the Pyrex for the final time.

Keep it at this temp until you stop seeing any bubbles at all. For an 1/8in oil base in the Pyrex after most of the alcohol is visibly gone, I go 6-8 hours I've heard people going 18-24 for full purge. If you can do this under a vac or in a room with negative pressure you'll get the best quality product.

Decarboxylating your herb - I always spread ground up herb on the bottom of a large brownie Pyrex and tie the Pyrex up in an oven bag (for smell) heat @ 205-215 depending on your oven for 30 mins, slightly longer if your herb is still moist and not fully cured.

This is first pass, high quality.. Save the herb and let it soak in ethanol for a slow/nasty extraction :)
