Running used nutes through RO

so I use RO for my hydroponic nutes. When doing changes I don’t just like throwing it on the garden. Has anyone ever thought or attempted to have a “used” res tank and re pump the used nutes back through the RO system. Would it re purify the water again?

Youd end up paying a lot in filter cartridges and membranes to save about a third of the water. Also a little electricity would be required to pump the dirty water up to pressure.

If you did make such a system:

I would use a booster pump with a pressure shutoff switch, have it feed through a check valve into a pressure storage tank. Then have that side of the system connected into the filter input using a tee. That pressure tank would reduce pump cycling. Probably gravity feed the input of the pump so as to prevent any sort of air lock. Youd also want a float switch in the dirty water tank to shut the pump down when the water level is low.

All this would be to reuse about a third of the water.

Ok I got how that would work. You could also connect the “drain or waste” from the Ro member to run back into the dirty water tank. And BAM your all 100%

What garden don't you want it to go on? I pumped my old nutes out to my yard and had the best grass and plants in that area. Outdoors you don't have to worry about them building up if you get somewhat regular rain. If it wasn't so far away I would've pumped it into my veggie garden.

I'd just dump it in the garden. That's what I always did when changing out reservoirs. The garden loved it.
