You also state your temps were low. Not trying to start no-ish but that could be the cause of the leaf droop on the couple seedlings. My experiences have just been different is all. Very consistent with excellent drainage.

The canna is working out great once past the seedling stage. It retains more water than the other brands of coco I use, so with seeds it works fine if you give it a solid wet dry cycle, but it's easy to overwater with very young plants-I just prefer a coco that dries out quicker. Canna's water retention properties make it great for the 2 gal pots I'm using this time around.

Hello! One of each of the Irene and LouisXIII have really taken off to the point the canopy became really uneven on the days I couldn't swing by and supercrop them, so I just put the two shorties on booster seats. I'm a little surprised by the amount of stretch I'm getting from these two plants, and interestingly enough, the two tallest plants are also the first to show flowers. Still feeding .9 EC twice per day, Jack's 321, err actually more like Jack's 322...I've been feeding equal amounts of calnit and epsom in both my grows this round and my foliage looks better than ever, so I think that experiment will stick. I just fed these girls their 3rd dose of aspirin at 1 tablet per gallon and I'll give it to them one more time in three weeks.. Last grow I gave them 8 doses of aspirin with no ill effects but this time I'm reducing it to 4 doses spaced 2-3 weeks apart. These plants are also getting 1 ml/gal Mr Fulvic each feed, as well as 1/4 teaspoon Spirulina per 3 gal, and yucca extract.






Lots of little differences between the S1s, with height and early flowering being the two most notable so far.

The phenotypic variation among the S1s has become more obvious in week 3 of 12/12. My favorite of these is the plant in the back left-even in this group pick at an early age it has taken on a "white" tint compared to the other Irene in the back right. This is due to the excellent coverage of trichomes all the way up the fan leaves-which is an early trait I like to see. The other plant with potential is the LouisXIII in the front right-it has nice early bud development and is stacking nodes, but it has less extensive trichome coverage. It also has that glossy leaf look that I like, compared to the other LouiXIII in the front left. Any or none of them could end up a winner, but I'm hoping I got lucky with one of these! Here is a close up of the Irene in the back left:

Just doing a quick update a bit early this week due to timing. I've had to ditch the rope ratchets on this light and zip tie it directly to the top bar in my tent-so it's at max height now and just shy of my vent fan. These are now at 45k lux so they can grow a little bit more without me having to supercrop them shorter for now. I think stretch is over, but 2 of these girls, my favorite included, really wanted to stretch their legs. Thanks for checking out my grow!!

I've reduced the calnit I'm feeding these girls and added a small dose of MKP to replace it-EC is an even 1. The tallest LouisXII kept stretching so I was forced to supercrop it quite severely, and added small lengths of garden wire wrapped around the "bend" to keep them in place, they've behaved well since. The Irene #2 is still my fave-it has a really flowery smell with light OG background notes. The LouisXIIIs just don't smell as strongly as I'd like just yet. The second Louis is still a bit runty but I'm going to finish flowering her anyway-never know what a plant might do in mid/late flower.

Louis #1-the Louis are definitely a bit overfed, it couldn't be helped. I wanted to make feeding as easy as possible for my buddy and he's been doing great with it. I'm just catering the nutrient mix towards the Irenes since I like them better so far-I would probably be feeding these Louis at .8 ec all the way through if not. The stretch on these was incredible.

Hopefully some of these really take off in the coming weeks but you just never know what you're going to get from S1s. Thanks for stopping by!

Time for a quick update! Three out of the 4 are looking very nice now. The Irenes are covered frost even on their fan leaves, and now the LouisXIII #1 is showing some nice frost on the calyxes, which I was hoping for from that strain. EC at 1.1, ph 6.3, 1/4 teaspoon spirulina added every other feed, fed twice daily. I just gave them a dose of Photosynthesis plus too. This tent reeks!

The LouisXIII's are killing it, even the runt has really started developing. They have bigger buds than the Irenes, but that could also come down to fewer bud sites at the canopy level. Next time in this tent, I will stick to a strict cola # limit. I've said that before, but this time I mean it, short veg time, 8 colas each, should be perfect to do some single branch chucking-I want to be able to easily slip a bread bag over the branch for isolation and I could never do that in one of my jungle canopies. One of the Irene's has some potent lemon-pinesol terps so I'm pretty stoked to smoke test her.


I think the Louis could be a decent producer for an OG if I really reduced my EC to feed her where she wants to be fed, which is <.8 EC.

The OGs are coming along very nicely, some amazing terpenes on one of them for sure so far. Still feeding 1 EC at 6.2 PH. Not much to report except that the smell coming from this tent is much stronger than my 4x4 by a lot.


The LouisXIIIs are still filling out, but the Irenes are just swelling now.

Just a quick update this week. Buds starting to swell really nicely. My buddy had an accident with the tent and ended up knocking 3 of the 4 plants over. The stems got all bent up to now it's like trying to tie up a handful of wet noodles. The runt was the one plant that didn't get knocked over, and now that plant is forming nice colas-it's just very leafy compared to the other LouisXIII which has a very nice bud to leaf ratio.

This is the plant I was talking about LouisXIII #2. Now that the calyxs have started swelling, it's starting to look like a really nice plant although I'm not a fan of tons of little leaves.

Plants are really starting to swell and ripen now, this has been a fun group and some of the nicest s1 plants I've had in a while. Not every strain makes good s1s, but OGs always seem to. I would recommend either of these based on what I've seen so far.

Just a quick update, still figuring out how to get the best pics out of my new phone:

Here is a group shot....you can see how far the LouisXIII on the left has come from the beginning, when it was a super runt. It swelled so much it doesn't even look overly leafy anymore-you wouldn't think it's an OG from looking at it. The Irenes have a much more typical, lower yielding OG morphology-don't get me wrong, they look incredible and are beginning to take on some nice color as you can see in the back of the pick.


Remember, the other three plants fell over and are just barely being held up now by a ton of garden wire. I actually wish I had some of those yoyos for this situation.


Here is that same Louis #2. #1 looks good too...I want to keep one of them, but I guess it will just come down to a smoke test. Pretty sweet to get two good plants from 2 s1 seeds!

I needed to repot one of the cuttings I took from this grow and thought I'd just show people how to do bonsai mommies. The idea is to keep the mom small in a small pot, pruning frequently and cutting the roots and repotting regularly. I don't like to keep moms long term anymore-I think a good practice would be to keep one of these for 3-4 months, then take cuttings and make the best cutting your new mom-that way, you keep the growth fresh and vigorous. They really take off after a good root pruning too. In the end, you only really need 5 or so growing tips, so you can keep these really small. This is how I transplant to a 4" nursery pot and then pruned the plant.

Serrated bread knives work awesome for this! Also, keep popsicle sticks for labels.


You don't have to be exact, just slice through the roots in a square shape-you just need to take 1/2 " or so.



Hopefully that gives some new folks an idea of how/why to keep bonsai moms-if you've found an awesome pheno or a classic strain you want to keep around, it doesn't have to take up much space.

Irene #2-These smell just incredible.

I need to figure out what day I'm on with these, I lost mental track....I feel like they were a week behind my 4x4, so these are probably around week 12 now. Zero amber showing...I see this a lot in OGs, where they seem to be in stasis for weeks during the end of flower with no change in trichomes. You just have to be patient!! I keep telling myself that anyway lol. You can see some of the differences in the Louis phenos in the pics below-both are killer looking plants and both have traits that I would like to keep, but I'm just going to pic one of them to keep, it'll come down to a smoke test.

Thanks! It's a Samsung Galaxy a53 5g. My old phone stopped letting me make calls via wifi which I really need as a feature where I live, so I decided to try out Google Fi and ended up getting this phone for 1/2 off last month. I got it specifically because of the camera-it's not as awesome as a Samsung flagship camera, but it's pretty cool! The macro feature works really good, that's what I use for a lot of the closeups I post, but I also have to use it in Pro mode a lot to use the manual focus...my big gripe with it is that for bud shots, the autofocus is awful, the camera always tries to focus on something else. I'm still playing around with the settings a lot though, and it's definitely my favorite phone I've owned. I love taking pics of the good herb, and I think this phone will keep me happy for a while, but eventually I'd like to look into some of the mid range cameras that do macro shots well.

Here are some finished buds from this grow. Time to get down to testing to see how the S1s compared to each other.


Here is the Irene #2. She formed big fluffy colas that just reek and was a heavy yielder for an OG.


The Irene#1 nugs are much more of a typical OG than Louis. Hard to describe the terps now from smell alone.

I never like to spend more than $200, maybe $300 max for a phone and the camera is always a priority for me. I don't really use my phone for much else, but I've played around with this one more than my past phones and I love it. I think I read they are giving it 5 years of software upgrades too, don't quote me on that, but I could definitely see myself wanting to keep it for a long time.
