Russian Rocket Fuel - Successful First Grow!

Hey guys, joined up to post a couple pics of my first successful grow. The genetics of Russian Rocket Fuel intrigued me (NYC Sour Diesel x White Russian), and the short flowering period was obviously appealing, too. The seeds I used were from Short Stuff Seeds. Started 10 seeds, eight sprouted, ended up with four females. Four completely different phenotypes, but all four have my approval. Would definitely grow Short Stuff RRF again, but I'd spend the extra money for the feminized seeds next time. I grew them with an ebb and flow type hydro setup, starting under 4 15 watt fluorescent lights and switching to a 400 watt HPS to flower. The photoperiod was 18/6 the entire time. Nutrients were General Hydroponics FloraDuo (just followed the directions), with GH's Diamon Nectar and Technaflora's MagiCal used as supplements. The plants were flushed with GH's Florakleen for five days before harvest. For a first grow, I'm very impressed with my results. These pictures were taken 60 days from the germinated seeds going into the rockwool cubes.

Here are some pics of the first plant in various states of trim. Super bushy.

The second pheno that I cut had a very interesting build to it. It basically looked like one huge nug. Really something. It also has a really unique scent. Very fuel oil-y, but fruity sweet as well. Probably the best trichrome density of the four plants.

Here's how it was looking.

The third plant taken was pretty similar to the first plant, but branching wasn't quite as prolific. Pretty much falls between one and two as far as size goes. Here's the fourth and final one shown below.

The fourth plant that I had was an absolute monster. Right from the start, it grew like crazy. I have a pretty small closet space to grow in, and it actually grew about 3 or 4 inches beyond the highest I could raise the lights (about 3 feet). It has a strictly fuel oil, diesel kind of odor.

I hope that you enjoyed checking out my grow. I apologize for the quality of the pictures, but all I had to work with was the camera on my phone. Can't wait for these babies to cure up right! I've tried samples from each plant after quick drying them and judging by the effects that gave, properly handled it should be a force to be reckoned with.

Peace, and thanks again for looking!

Hey, thanks jody! I appreciate that. The seeds did come from Attitude. Had a great experience with them and will definitely be back. Got plenty of freebies in a promotional deal, too. I'll see about those for round two. I didn't weigh what I had wet. Kind of wish I had now so I'd have at least an idea of what I was working with. But after trimming that first plant I kind of went into robot trim mode and didn't think about it. Hah hah. I'll post here again in about a week or so and let you know how it totals up dry.

sweet man, Ive been thinking about going with attitude,, but i live in canada and its easier for me to get from canadian seed banks. Ill probably try them next time, seeing as you get freebies and all. itll be worth the little bit extra.
sounds great man, ill stick around to see

Looks like you did a really nice job, and for it being your first too. I just finished my 1st sucessful indoor grow, and the payoff is so worth it in the end. It was a great experience.

WOW! I am truly jealous! That was one of the strains I REALLY wanted to go with, but budget constraints, and all, left it out of my first grow. I hope my four strains turn out even half as well, as far as yield, but I think its probably hard to beat HYDRO for yield, compared to EARLY season indoor/outdoor (yup, still under approx 90Watt CFL's, waiting another week or less to get them out in the COOL, not COLD air around here). Maybe what the short (60 day, approx.) strains lack in yield, the 100-120 days Super Cali Haze will make up for...I should be set for at least 6 Months, much as I smoke any more...lol...I'm a lighweight!

Again, Very Nice Grow, thanks for sharing, and ...

HAPPY 420!!!

I too did well with the rrf. I agree with your review, with a short addition. I grew a tolerance issue with mine fairly quickly. I would definetly grow a variety to have an alternate when the tolerance issue arises. Peace, be kind.

Hey, thanks for all the positive posts everybody! I really appreciate it. Just got it all tucked away in jars after a week hanging up. The official total is a little over six ounces. Stems snapped and the outsides were crispy, so even if it loses more I won't mind. Definitely exceeded my expectations.

Thanks for the suggestion, little butch. For my next go at it, I was thinking about an autoflowering medley. Has anyone ever done this? I was thinking about some NL auto and a few Mikromachine auto. I figured that the four that I had were so varied, having two different varieties wouldn't be so bad. Thanks for any input you might have!

Peace!

sweet man 6 Oz is awesome. I think you should do well with a medley. Ive heard good things about both mikromachine and NL auto.. Ive got my Il Diavolo in my Waterfarm now. we ll see how she does. I started 3 , they all germd. one was weak, i tossed it.. yesterday I checked the remaining 2 and One has rooted its rockwool the other is gone.. so im left with one : ) ill get some pics up soon.

I actually haven't thought about DWC (deep water culture, right?). However, once I recover the expenses on the ebb and flow system I have (which shouldn't take nearly as long as I thought) I would definitely be open to experimenting with other methods. Are there any advantages to DWC over ebb and flow? I have heard about faster growth with DWC. At some point I'd like to settle down with a strain and have a couple of mothers. Maybe use the ebb and flow to keep the mothers and see about switching to DWC for the grow?

Yeah deep water culture, Im not really sure on the advantages over ebb. What you could do though is just buy/make a DWC bucket and keep a mother going in it. Ive seen some TREES in waterfarm buckets. I would imagine that Ebb fits your space better than a bunch of 6 gal buckets/pots. Your Ebb system is def better for SOG .. A mother in a hydro bucket would keep you going for quite a while i think.. Grow looked great man. I too tried autos first.. Im mid way now and wishing i grew out one of my photos. but its all good. im going to finish my Autos 2 in soil and 1 in hydro. Ive been looking into a 12-12 from seed grow. looks like it could be fun. and would fit my space very well. Keep us posted on future grows man
