Russian scandal

I was just checking into Twitter and searched Russian scandal to try to get more information on election tampering.

Is my Twitter being manipulated by Russia? Is this a hoax? I'm pretty confused right now, is the Director of National Intelligence a Russian spy or is this all fake news?

BUT he says IC doesn't know the extent to which it may "reflect exaggeration or fabrication."

I would almost guarantee your twitter account is being manipulated by Russian trolls. I am not sure about that document, going to look into it.

I double checked the date on that letter from the new DNI (it is hard to trust anything they release as a purely political Trump troll) . This happened the next day:

I double checked and it looks like that is something released:

Is it just me or does it look like what he is saying that the intelligence is Russian in origin, so not American intel. I think this fits with their long scam when Trump got them caught right by announcing the Russian-Trump Tower meeting on June 9th in this video:
(I love Ivanka's oh-shit moment when Trump announces the date of the Russian meeting with Jr.)

Here is what the senate report said about the Brennan Obama meeting on July 28th.

I think that this is in line with the Russian trying to cover their tracks Trump exposed by being a loud mouth idiot by looking backwards. Their trolls were pushing this online for a while, and with Radcliffe it looks like they are able to do a complete circle jerk of their propaganda into being given credibility.

None of this changes the fact that Trump hired Papapolous who had known about the Russian interference as early as April 2016, months before this meeting with Brennan Obama. I think this is more finger pointing to try to get Trump through November.

Ratcliffe is a GOP political activist who is passing along Russian intelligence talking points. Is it collusion when they do it in plain sight?
It is when they knowingly do it, and he does know, it was shoved in his nose constantly.

Ok, I checked. Got onto a work computer in one of the offices I don't use and searched it without logging in and same stuff came up. IDK.

So definitely not pushed to me, maybe the IP range but that seems suspect in a work environment, and I don't know how sophisticated the tools are that Russia was given by Snowden. Can they even do that? Follow you around on devices? That doesn't sit right with me, sounds like paranoia when I free think the logic out. Not saying that's what you're implying, just my thought process on this.

Yeah, having the Director of National Intelligence release this document, unless it's fake, sure does give credibility to an alternative viewpoint.

I always like watching your guys elections. It truly is a beautiful shit show of manipulation and propaganda.

I'm sure there's going to be a whole lot more drama for you guys before November 3rd rolls around.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. I'll dig into what you provided for me more.

I was going to ask you about the Smith-Mundt Act, but I figured that one out by myself.

Unfortunately I am kind of weak in my understanding of the tech portion of what can be done, so I just assume it all can thanks to Snowden. I don't know we have enough information on that yet.

The attack portion that I understand is more about the getting the propaganda into your feed, then having conversations around it with you using their troll army. But I can imagine if you ever logged onto Facebook/social media website on a device they know that device belongs to you, and all those posts give them data on what to send to you. If you are looking up more stuff about the Russian attack it would make sense to check whoever it was that sent it to you, and maybe peruse the people they are chatting with, I am guessing it might get easy to spot the trolls just by their narratives.

You can never know (unless you are someone that does know) is my point of view. I try to be like the cat in the box, simultaneously in 2 states. Both trust everyone online to say what they say they are, while knowing it is likely you are talking to yourself in a data collection box with clever troll/bots making me feel like I am contributing to a conversation I enjoy being a part of.

I don't understand.

Retaliatory action maybe?
Russian actions taken have resulted in more deaths then 9-11.

not to mention creating a division between families. We have fallen from 4th to 15th place in Quality of Life.

The China road is here and Exxon wants to be the distributor of fuel for the millions of cars that GM is putting out there.

If someone told me I couldn't make a $500B deal because the other person is a dick, (and being of no morals) I would try to change your opinion.

How does Putin look in the world today today compared to 4 years ago. A lot more stable.

China is a far better customer base then the US.
Communism has manipulated Capitalism. :eyesmoke:

Thanks for being honest, I'll have to dig into that a little. It's intriguing.

I see, they tend to work in groups, all feeding and reinforcing a narrative.. I guess you never know who you are talking to online nowadays. Unless like you said you know them.

Thanks for the interesting discussion @hanimmal , I'm kinda like a tourist here I guess... don't want to get too involved in your politics but the psychology behind propaganda and manipulation holds an intellectual interest for me, and you are good at discussing these things.

I wish I could respond to this, but I have no reference point and I don't see all your connections. No need to explain. I'm only interested in manipulation tactics and how they are being employed on the general public.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Trump administration’s top intelligence official said Tuesday that he has declassified Russian intelligence alleging damaging information about Democrats during the 2016 election even though he acknowledged it might not be true.

The announcement, just hours before the first presidential debate of this November’s election, drew harsh criticism from lawmakers who accused National Intelligence Director John Ratcliffe of politicizing intelligence.

In a letter Tuesday to Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., Ratcliffe said that in late July 2016, U.S. intelligence agencies obtained “insight” into Russian spycraft alleging that Hillary Clinton, who was running for president, had “approved a campaign plan to stir up a scandal against” Trump.

But Ratcliffe added that American intelligence agencies do “not know the accuracy of this allegation or the extent to which the Russian intelligence analysis may reflect exaggeration or fabrication.”

The announcement was a startling break from convention given that the nation’s intelligence chiefs are generally loath to publicly discuss sensitive government intelligence, particularly when that information is unconfirmed — as Ratcliffe himself admits is the case here. But Trump himself has been eager to install loyalists in the role of intelligence director, and Ratcliffe and his predecessor, Richard Grenell, have authorized a series of disclosures in recent months aimed at undermining the Russia investigation and providing a political advantage to Trump.

Graham signaled Tuesday that he intended to ask former FBI Director James Comey about the issue when Comey testifies before the committee, which has been doing its own inquiry into the origins of the Russia probe.

Sen. Mark Warner, the top Democrat on the Senate intelligence committee, called Ratcliffe’s decision “disturbing,” especially this close to a presidential election.

Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., a member of the intelligence committee, accused Ratcliffe of abusing his position as the nation’s top spy.

“His politicization of intelligence, including through selective releases to political allies, damages the country and undermines the intelligence community he purports to lead,” Wyden said in a statement. “Ratcliffe is even willing to rely on unverified Russian information to try to concoct a political scandal — a shocking abdication of his responsibilities to the country.”

Wyden said the information being released amounted to “rumint” or intelligence based on rumors. Ratcliffe responded with a second statement claiming the intelligence was not Russian disinformation. He said he’d be briefing Congress in coming days about the “sensitive sources and methods by which it was obtained.”

Ratcliffe said he was providing the intelligence to the Judiciary Committee related to the FBI’s “Crossfire Hurricane” investigation in 2016 and 2017 into links between Trump associates and Russian officials. Comey is to testify to the committee on Wednesday.

In his letter to the committee, Ratcliffe said that according to handwritten notes by former CIA Director John Brennan, Brennan briefed President Barack Obama and other senior national security officials on the intelligence, including the “alleged approval by Hillary Clinton on July 26, 2016 of a proposal from one of her foreign policy advisors to vilify Donald Trump by stirring up a scandal claiming interference by Russian security services.”

Nick Shapiro, former CIA deputy chief of staff to Brennan, said Russian interference in the 2016 election was “real, intense and unprecedented in scale and scope.”

Shapiro said the meddling was authorized personally by Russian President Vladimir Putin to hurt Clinton and to promote the electoral prospects of Trump. “The intelligence on this is incontrovertible and the analysis unimpeachable,” Shapiro said.

He said the intelligence community’s assessment of Russian interference on behalf of Trump has been corroborated numerous times. That includes in the CIA’s own review when Secretary Mike Pompeo was the CIA director as well as in the bipartisan Senate intelligence committee review and report by former special counsel Robert Mueller.

“Trump’s own head of counterintelligence has publicly stated that the Russians are once again helping Donald Trump,” Shapiro added. “Ratcliffe should be ashamed of his blatant politicization of his position.”

Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., the chairman of the House intelligence committee, also denounced Ratcliffe’s action. “Ratcliffe’s decision to release Russian intelligence he concedes may be false is an obvious domestic political errand with an election weeks away,” Schiff tweeted. “But his acknowledgment that it was derived from sensitive sources and methods—which he may now have compromised—is just inexcusable.”

Thanks for posting the article Hanimmal, at least it sheds some light. I can see why the American public has become so polarized. I don't envy you guys.
