"Rusty" Leaves

Hey people,

I can't seem to catch a break with this grow. I've tried looking this topic up in other forums but I can't find leaves that look like these. Please have a gander and tell me what you think.

These are the facts:
Plants are just over 16 days old. I've had over watering problems till a few days ago but these markings are new, in that I noticed them for the first time today.

The plants are nestled beneath 3 high powered CFLs - probably need a few more when/if the girls get bigger.

I transplanted them today from straight potting soil to a potting soil/perlite mix. I watered lightly and now I'm leaving them dry out as recommended by other posts as per transplanting.

Anyway take a look and sure let me know what you think. Thanks.

Calcium and magnesium are locked out in acidic soils.That does appear to be one of the two though.
On the other hand that is pretty big for 16 days,what kind of soil are you using?
 
I was using just potting soil. I transplanted them to potting soil/Perlite mix yesterday. Without sounding like a total buffoon... how do I rectify this? How do I add the calcium or magnesium? Bear in mind I'm a total novice... and a bit short in the common sense department! By the way thanks Autogrower and Huh?!

Cal-mag plus by botanicare. ;-)
 
Just noticed the tips of the new leaves are turning brown... This can't be good!

Cheers doc... would disolving cal-mag suplliment tablets work? I live somewhere where botnicare never heard of! :)
 
Thats Magnesium,just buy some epsom salt and use 1-2 teaspoons per gallon.And for a quick fix you should use it as a foliar spray,I'm not sure how much to use when using as a foliar spray though.
 
hey, my plants were doin the same thing. im not saying its not a defficiency but i flushed my plants really good and it seemed to help ALOT with the brown spots. just an opinion..
 
I think you also have a bit of nitrogen defiancy maybe up your dose a bit and don't forget to flush. if our new groth starts looking good dont worry about it. I would fush them and completely and then feed them, but thats just me
 
Update:

So I took all your advice and tid-bits and added some cal-mag. They seem to be doing a hell of a lot better now! Thank you so much for all the help... There is however a new development in the ongoing saga that is this grow! :wall:

All three have started getting very pale and turning brown at the tips. See pics.

They had drooped very badly before I added the cal-mag and now they have perked up wonderfully. It's just the paleing now that has me up at nights. Is it a nitrogen def? I flushed them today as per advice but I'm kinda worried about them. :confused: They've kinda been through a lot in the past few days!

Anyway, cheers for all the help so far.

I have yellowing similar to yours that I'm dealing with. It's a zinc deficiency due to PH lockout.

correct PH is super important!
