S\witching from ro water to tap?

So I have some hydro and soil grow going and I have been using RO water up until now ( today is week one of 12/12). I don't like how the RO units wastes a lot of water so i wanted to switch to tap water. I filled up a 5 gal bucket with tap water and let it deputy for 24 hrs and tested it. It tested at PH 8.7 (I think) and EC .1 could I switch to tap water or just stick with RO until I'm done? I already switch to tap water for my soil plants so i am asking about the hydro.

Really all comes down to what is in your water - it isn't just PH, it's stuff like rust, chlorine, calcium, ect.

Home Depot will test your water for free, although it's probably just a scam to sell you a water filter.

Also keep in mind that there are a lot of water filters out there, and most don't waste water like RO, or cause a big pressure drop.

the higher the pH the higher the Calcium Carbonate which so you would not need any Cal/Mag its going to be hard to tell how much Ca is your water unless its tested to much Ca can lead to Mg lockout and other problems... if your running RO and your not having any issues at all id keep it the way it is... GL

I have a big ass RO system... It was just a pain in the ass moving it to the spots... so I gave regular tap water a try and the girls look awsome....Tap is all I use now...

I use tap for my nute feedings, and run the RO for days I just water, and for the flush.

Other than when mites get ahold of them, the plants are happy.

Run your tap water through the shower head from a bit of height. Takes a shed load of the chlorine out. I don't even leave it 24 hours anymore and I used to be fanatical about dechlorination.

Tap water PH 7.2 EC .2-.3

real niggas hustle hard to get wht they want lol j/k. i only have an ro unit cuz i have a reef tank which i use to make water for. i also have all them test kits to test cal, mag etc for also but i havent tested anything other then my reef tank.

Thanks for the reply guys i made the switch the same day this thread was started and so far so good. The reason y i wanted to switch over to tap was cuz i was just tires of wasting so much god damm water. And i also feel like my tap is pretty clean compared to what some people post about their tap. I have a 20 gal tub that has had tap water in it for a few days now and i just tested it and it reads PH 7.7 EC .1 I also have pumps from my fish tank that i dont use anymore so i leave it in the tub to move the water around.

It all depends on your cities tap water. You can find out whats in the water by googling your city's water report. Its really up to you. I would use it if my tap water was 200 PPM or under but its not plus other things comes into play. Your city could just have shitty water for a number of reasons or you will have to use Reverse Osmosis water like I do because when I bought my house it came with a water softener system for the entire house.

I use the waste water to fill my washing machine; other than being 25% higher in salts, the water has no chlorine and has been filtered to 0.2 microns.

I used tap water for years with no problem. My ph was 6.7 with 260 ppm. A few months ago I switched to a ro system, things seem ok, I really don't notice any changes. I got my from Apec, an outfit in Calif. American parts and American made. I decided on it after some research. The waste water isn't bad. Nothing like GE or Westinghouse which are bad from what I've seen. Chlorine doesn't hurt plants, but chloride does.
