I know a source but it can be
Hard to find because they don't advertise, but companies tha build bullet proof plastic barriers for banks and such usually have a dumpster full of cuts. Plus they replace old plastic and it usually ends up outside the shop.
just an idea.
peace,

Check out sign supply shops; they stock polycarbonate. Also, plastic suppliers like Pioneer (a major national chain) carry it. You may have to special order a 1.5" thick sheet. I've only used that thickness once and that was laser cutting some things.

Have you looked into aquarium tank manufacturers in your area?
They usually have lots of scrap, acrylic might be a cheaper option.
Some polycarbonates can leach bisphenol-a, a known endocrine disruptor, when exposed to liquids or solvents....
