Saran wrap or no?

Germinating seedlings in rockwool in a plastic party cup. Before the sprouts emerged I had saran wrap covering the cups to keep it humid. Seemed to work great, one day and they emerged, grew over an inch and sprouted their first true leaves.

Just wondering if I should remove the dome on them now or wait. Some things I've read said DONT use domes/wrap on seedlings, only clones. Others have said that humidity is good for rockwool seedlings until well-rooted.

Anyone want to help me not kill 6 beautiful green seedlings?

Sounds like a plan. They get light in a few hours so I'll give them their freedom for the first time when I can work in the cabinet. Doing 12/12 from seed makes monitoring rockwool a pain!

High humidity isn't necessary for germination; clones need it because they lack the means (roots) to replace what moisture they transpire. Warmth and high humidity also creates the perfect conditions for pathogenic fungi. Lack of air exchange\reduced oxygen in the rhizosphere stressing young plant roots also makes it more susceptible to damping off and other infections. Rockwool is largely sterile I would imagine but the fungi is quite common and so still of concern.

Yeah fungus was my main concern. I think one day should be okay, they are an inch + tall, green, have cotes and 2 spear leaves and standing straight up, better than I imagined this fast. Tonight when 12 on begins I will go in and remove the wrap from all of those. I like having it on the germing seeds simply because it stays moist forever!

I put zip lock bags over my cups. It does not create an air tight seal so image that is why I have never had a problem with fungi. But I disagree with not needing humidity. Unless u r home all day and can watch them then cover them. I work twelve hours a day so it is necessary for me. I've never had any problems. I also get 99% success.

I'm thinking I may cover them during the dark periods. I can water them at lights on and a little before lights off. Going to try it without wrap at all and see how fast it dries up. They are sitting on some hydroton so I can't overwater and if they grow out of the rockwool they'll practically be hempy!

Have to be careful though since I'm doing 12/12 from seed.. although I doubt a little indirect light is going to harm them at 2 days old.
