Sativa Height control?

I am setting up a new grow. Height control is going to be my biggest problem. I am going to have to finish my plants around 18-20”. I will be taking cuttings from mother plants so I will be able to flower right after they take root. Will I be able to finish a sativa plant? I would start to flower at 4” or so. I would also take full advantage of LST. I could train one small plant to take up as much space as necessary. I would love to grow a thai plant.

If you train it, it will grow :) Ya you should be able to do that, your gonna be pushing it at only 20" but just train the hell out of them

Sativa's can be height killers. I flowered mine at 8 inches thinking it would only double during flowering, but it more than qaudrupled. LST can be a life saver. Train, train and train again.

Peace.

I grow almost pure sativa and start flowering at around 6 inches. Final height winds up 4 to 5 feet. LST is only way to go. An advantage I found is the branches below the tip get better light and grow much fatter. I tie plastic nursery tape about 6 or so inches from the top and pull it down to the lip of the container. Clip in place with a clothes pin or binder clip. You can pull lower by a bit every day or so if needed. After a few week the buds are so heavy you no longer need to hold the branch down. I flip the plastic tape up and suspend the heavy buds for the remainder of the grow.

Do you mean the branches directly underneath the top colar or the whole colar it's self. Any pics or diagram. Wouldn't mind trying that.

I don't have any heavy sativa's growing yet but I've been using pinch training along with topping to keep my more sativa-like ones at a reasonable height. My current oldest plant didn't get that treatment and it got a tiny bit too big for my little 400W HPS.

The pinching does slow growth a little while the plant is healing the damaged areas. I'm not sure how MUCH time it adds but it doesn't seem to be affecting them much. They look about the same as my other plants at the same time except they are much shorter.
