Ok hello everyone.

I was wondering what everyone thinks about the situation in Darfur. Should we help or should we just sit back and watch?

I'm pretty sure we should help, but with all the Bush bandits running things, it will probably not happen untill we leave Iraq, and we know that's not going to happen untill we get a Democratic president and a 61 dems-39 reps in the senate. So think of who you want to vote for in '08'.

didn't they (sudanese) reject the UN proposal to send in 17,000+ troops to help? you can't force them to take help.

do you mean the poor?
I seriously doubt that is the intention of many on this site, although I have been posting such "nonsense" since I showed up. They just can't quite grasp the concept, helping someone other than themselves seems out of reality, a fantasy or as most post, communistic. Don't mention helping the poor or you will be labeled a commie, after all the rich give plenty to help the poor. just ask -7X, Vi, Wavels and Zig-Zag, They are all about helping the poor~LOL~ You might as well try squeezing water out of a stone as expect them to offer help to the poor.

Hey Med ...

Have you given up that extra blanket and kindly thrown it over the shoulders of that poor, down and out alcoholic derelict who lives behind that dingy card club a couple of blocks from your cozy, warm home?

the problem with africa is that they are stuck a couple thousand yeas behind everyone else. there is war there and will continue to be until they themselves fix it. iraq should show you that an outside force cannot solve a civil war. i know it is a shitty thing to do but... there is really nothing we can do... the only thing that will bring stability to that region is education and agracultural technology. you cannot force your will on a region. especially if they reject your aid to begin with...

i am not saying that the US should go in but peace keepers should and we should try to help them as much as possible to stop the wars

they did. i was asking this in hopes of some discussion about it. their gvnmnt rejected help, the world offered, they declined.

they said white EU troops would give the appearance of occupation and scare everyone. india offered a number of female, non-white troops and they barely even accepted that.

they do not want help.

I think the "they" is the government, not the people. I'll bet the people that are being raped and killed and maimed (machetes) surely want some help from anyone willing to provide it. Doesn't humanitarian aid include stopping genocide? The deal is, they have no real natural resourses to exploit or we'd be there in a heartbeat! Call me a liar!!!

i agree that their lack of relevance to avg joe, in terms of contributing something of worth, is not in their favor but it also does not prevent the world from taking action. how many billions do we send to africa to treat AIDS? that's certainly not going to benefit us.

from what i understand the gvnmnt that is defending the people who are being killed off is taking the stance that accepting white help will fan the flames and cause other neighboring militants to jump in...helter skelter like...so they try to throttle the killing back as much as they can.

seems like they would want all the help they could get but i'm going on media reports so what do i really know??

Yes, humanitarian aid includes stopping genocide. Give us some time ... we are trying to stop the genocide in Iraq at the moment. Darfur next?
