Kill the sativa TD, it's hell spawn, you'll see. Kill it with fire just to be safe and then you may want to bury the ashes just to be sure.

YES! The indica is soo much more easy going, I know Sativa's are always a little more stressful; but this is just out of control. You nailed it.. Spawn. Have personal exp with these bitchy things?

My only drawback is that I want to persevere through the troubles and take it as a positive in the long run.. though the original's are going on 10 weeks old.......ho.ly. hell. That just hit me.. Idk. I may thrash em. I need to put my tracking number from Attitude to get a better idea of when I need to make room for that SLH. ;-)

:Little update:

On our 3rd set of true leaves- two weeks old tomorrow morning, cotyledons are starting to yellow and fall away. Only issue is some burnt tips up to the 2nd set of leaves. You can slightly see this in the previous pics.

Suggestions?

Recently the Water Table around these parts has risen to unstable levels- causing a list of issues, one being- Water in the drain inside Narnia (where the toilet used to be) was about 4-6" away from the lip- So I havnt been able to get some fresh RO up till tonight, been about a week.

I will be dosing with 150ppm of my Botanicare Cal/Mag+, havnt determined the required ml's for these containers/volume yet- I always loved a little math. This has 2% of Nitrogen in it so they should thrive on this for a while.

Also I had taken 8 clones this morning before work, 4 from each dominant pheno. Looking much better, and more on track.

On my ipad- Ill post a couple pics tomorrow.

Yeah Scotch I got a sativa pheno and have never had anything but bad luck with it, though the smoke it produced was good enough to keep it around. I'm going to grow it one more time this summer, heavily topped and flowered under 10/14. If it grows without the problems of previous efforts and produces quality smoke, it's staying cause I do like what I've managed to produce so far, but more importantly, I'll never run my flowering room at 12/12 again. I think a good grower running hydro or coco can swing 12/12, but I'm of the opinion that an organic soil/mix based LED grow benefits from 10/14, especially sativas. But I'm still in the experimenting stage, so shit could change tomorrow :).

Heyyyy!! I knew he'd be around sooner or later! ;) Glad to have you on board Dawg! Hopefully Ill be making my own microbes before too long.

@Fran- Could you delve into the 10/14 regime a bit? I've heard of it, but not of the consequences of the slight change.

I am calling Septic Companies now, but once I get this shit handled Ill swap the young one's res out with some Cal/Mag'd RO and snap some shots for you guys.

whelp...

My laptop just took a shit.

Pics have been postponed.. I don't know another way besides via laptop that I can upload them, iPhone and Pad wont let the "pop up window" of RIU's system work.

It's been a good day.. -_-

Scotch if you want to PM me, (I've cleaned up a bit :)), and I'll send you a link to a photo site that you can connect to through TOR and upload photos to. Once uploaded the site saves them to Photobucket and gives you the address to the photo that you just paste into your posts. 800x600 max I think, but no registering and no RIU picture manager.

And the "short" version of why I flower using 10/14 is I'm not a commercial,(nor particularily skilled), grower and I grow for quality and not for profit. I've experimented with Gaslighting and veg using the 12/5.5/1/5.5 technique it employs in order to save money on electricity which is very expensive where I am. So I've been reading my Rosenthal and he gets into how 12/12 isn't really ideal for many strains, though he's mostly talking sativas/doms. Some points being that a longer period of darkness can result in tighter nugs and 10/14 is more natural to many strains than 12/12. Now short days aren't so perfect for indicas, some you can flower at 13/11 Ed R says. But the thing about indicas is they're great for low light grows, so if I throw some intense targeted LED spectrums at them, will this overcome the loss of yield from the shorter day with indicas? Will they get enough light to grow to an optimal level for what I'm paying in electricity? I'm beginning to believe so. Also my plants running 12/12 have always had a stressed out, run down appearance when I harvest them. Now I'm a bit of a follower of Uncle Ben and I agree a plant should be mostly green when you harvest it, not looking like the Northeast USA in October. So should I push and stress a plant to try to maximize it's harvest, which is something that I don't really have the knowledge to do right now? Or should I try to make the best environment and therefore have the plant grow as well as it can, and if I do it right should be a good haul? Fact is my plants have never looked better, (including my BF's Blue Cheese, a plant that everytime I harvested looked like shit), since I switched to 10/14. I got 3 BCs running now and they're looking great after 4 weeks or so and I'm not used to it :). I don't even want to touch the fuckin things it's going so good! LOL

Okay I did add a Vipar A300 which was a total game changer for me and my plants, but the nute routine is the same. Does running your flowering lights on 20% less of the time result in a 20% loss of harvest. I say that number is just some simpleton's wise ass reply that a bunch of stoned hippies sat there and agreed with. But is there some loss? There has to be I would think. But for a grower like me, if I can get close to the same yield for less, how much is enough. I'm roughly pulling out 1.5 to 2 ounces every 2 weeks now and that's enough for my ass, that's for sure :eyesmoke:. But I haven't given up on 12/12 yet and will probably switch back to it if I follow my plans with flowering some Critical Mass later this year.

And that was the short version .

You never cease to surprise me Fran Jan, hell yea.

I am about the Qualty of things, I don't care how much I get- as long it gets me high and holds me there for at least 2 hours, I'm solid.

Ive always used grams/watt as a guide but am really wanting to delve into grams/kW and see how much money I am really saving myself, along with enjoying a killer hobby. G/kW is where it's at, and utilities are a bitch; my reason for LEDs (on top of the stellar quality)

That BF's BC is a strain I wanted to try; sweet to know it runs so well under 10/14. And it's Sativa preferred?! I feel like this is what I am going to do. Not to mimic in an unfashionable way; but if the facts are there- the results of healthier plants, mainly sativas- a couple hours off your daily utilities- then I would be a fool to not try it out.

I am personally, obviously not experienced enough to mark a notable difference between these two light cycles; but I do heed some ppl's word around here. Not to mention; this is a hobby, not my livelihood- so I can "afford" a little play room to see what works, even at a loss of weight- as long as I can keep on tokin'.

Im here at work now, so this was a "quick" reply, I am more than likely going to reread these posts, then probably hit you up about that upload site later on, thank you brother.

I grow for quality and not for profit.
^^ This is it, of course there is going to be a market for everything, but it doesn't have to be a black market- its a culture, a lifestyle; and I pray to be able and live to see the day that ppl are just handing each other nugs as it were skittles, or change.

So I've been reading my Rosenthal and he gets into how 12/12 isn't really ideal for many strains, though he's mostly talking sativas/doms. Some points being that a longer period of darkness can result in tighter nugs and 10/14 is more natural to many strains than 12/12.
Good ol' Eddie.. Out of every thing i've read that is actually published.. he's got it to a fuckin' T man. This info in a newer book of his, or online? AND Im a Sativa kindve guy, so this is perfect.. Im definitely going to be running this and seeing what's up- not like I have a lot of experience to compare it to though.. lol

But the thing about indicas is they're great for low light grows, so if I throw some intense targeted LED spectrums at them, will this overcome the loss of yield from the shorter day with indicas? Will they get enough light to grow to an optimal level for what I'm paying in electricity? I'm beginning to believe so.
You're saying if you flower both Sat and Ind under 10/14, you think more intense light would compensate for the shorter period of light, right? Totally agree if so. And yea, I think it could definitely keep the utilities cheaper, well.. I guess depending on the draw of the additional lighting; im sure there's diminshing values after some point- but I do think you are on to something with this.. Utilities are a bitch. they're nothing compared to my previous house (built in 1906, wooo! Museuuum!!), but I am always trying to be engery efficient and cut corners- 'specially on the house

hey... why did I start growing again? Oooo cus halves are 200 bucks... that's riight.. lol. Fuckin black market.. quit totin' AK's and pack a fuckin bowl already! (for the record I am not bashin' anybody that does sell cannabis or any other "narcotics" for a living; you've gotta do what you've gotta do- live on.)

Also my plants running 12/12 have always had a stressed out, run down appearance when I harvest them. Now I'm a bit of a follower of Uncle Ben and I agree a plant should be mostly green when you harvest it, not looking like the Northeast USA in October. Or should I try to make the best environment and therefore have the plant grow as well as it can, and if I do it right should be a good haul?
^^^ This is right where Im at. Rolled this one over just about all day. lol

But for a grower like me, if I can get close to the same yield for less, how much is enough.
^^^ And cut, BAM! What its all about. Efficiency.

Im assuming you've seen Step Brothers...

after every quoted area; there should be a man yelling POW!

And it's Rosenthal's Marijuana Grower's Handbook (from 2010 I think, I got a digital copy that doesn't have any dates it seems). He has a lot of interesting things to say about spectrum that LED growers and the DIY gang should read. I like Ed's take on LEDs cause he's a skeptic first, but I do get the vibe from what he's written that he enjoys experimenting with them and being able to manipulate and use specific spectrums. I think Ed is going to have something major to say about LED and growing spectrums one day, if our loving, benevolent caring, government(s) will leave him alone for now.

^^its always good to see a "professional" taking on the new technology of today and testing it for us- even if we do have our own results and opinions. Now if we can get that government off our shit.. I think we're "free" and clear.

-Little update for Everybody-

I know it's no fun without pics.. but I figured that I would touch base with every body that gives a shit.

-I threw in the tracking # for the new seeds, they have officially hit U.S. Borders, and now we wait...
^^^As soon as these get here, I will be throwing them in and firing them up, I am ready for a strain that works with me.

-I had taken 9 clones on the 17th, according to my calendar- I have a question about these..should there be water collected on the stem, dripping into a raindrop style? I assuming so, but it seemed to have softened my stems on the previous clones and I wanted to make sure I was not severly fucking myself, as my "logical" mind tells me roots grow lengthy when they have to reach for moisture, so why would this not use the same concept? Just wanted to clarify.

-The current kiddo's- the one's this journal is focused around- are doing great, actually reaching for the light a bit which makes me wonder if I should lower them a bit, or give a tad more nutes. <---- The big thing telling me not to throw in some Gro is the slightly burnt tips, I am sitting at 140ppm on a .7 scale of the Bot. Cal/Mag- there is marginal necrosis up to the third set of leaves and light center looking like slight calcium def, but the fourth set has now developed a bare tip burn on the very edge, I figured these are two weeks old, give em another week then kick it to 250, maybe 300, and seeing how they react. Would love input as well.

All in all they're looking great, startin' to develope that new growth at first few nodes quite well, and sittin' at 2 1/2 and 3" (left-right).. Honestly hoping for a good Indica dominant. If anyone knows of my recent seed search, Ive been wanting one great Ind. amongst my field of Sat's.

-And speaking of Idica's: The older ones are drinking like it is no tomorrow since I have cut my nutes back- The Indica shooting up all its side branches, and fuckin rocking it. I will be throwing this one into flowering, once I know I have some rooted clones- seems I should get quite a few "apical" buds off 'er. The Sativa is a whiney as bitch!! God I have never been so irritated with this thing. Ive hit up a bag seed Sativa and been okay, but this whore is no go. Yellowing past the point of pussy.. I FIM'd her last week to let the Indica try n catch up, she's throwing out some nice side branching up top, but cant define what my main stems are going to be. Along with the just... sickening Cal deficiency it's pullin'....I may pull her. Just rock the Indica and see what it gives me with 2 Spectra's on her.

I needed to throw in another fan into my Veg cabinet this weekend, but got tied up moving my sump pit line away from my septic to help it leech out, water table fucking blows man... and helping out my dad Saturday- I didn't have time to do this or finish making my other 2-site 5 gallon totes to correct the difference of nute regime among the two pheno's.

God... I love being home owner..

I will be getting a new computer within the next couple weeks (along with a new septic), so bare with me- I may be figuring something out before then.

Till then, let's all go watch Puffenuff's new KGP run!

Long time no see.. well, not this thread. I was startin' to jack Puff's thread so I decided Id give a "small" update, fuckin keif high..

I just got my seeds from Attitude in yesterday, 10 Super Lemon Haze (fem'd), 10 Space Queen/Jill (reg.)- along with 5 freebies and bag for the girl.

-x1- Orka by BlimBurn Seeds
-x1- LA Woman by DNA Seeds
-x1- Mango by BlimBurn Seeds
-x1- Critial #47 by Positronics Seeds

And last but not least,

-x1- Sour Kush by Reserva Privada

I have read about the last one and I am a bit excited about it, though does anyone else have some input on the other four?

Super Lemon haze is up first, I am too excited... giddy freaking kid with his first slingshot all over again.. lol I had pitched my Sativa Tangerine Dream last week- was irritable as is that day, and it just didn't rub me right, so I threw the indica into flower and tossed the sat.

The younger two Tangerine Dream are kicking it, gonna give them their second batch of nutes tomorrow morning, three including the original RO, of 150ppm Cal/Mag and adding 100 ppm of DynaGrow and see how they react- assuming no negatives consequences are going to arise, as they are 3 weeks old now.. time to move out kids.. SLH is here. ;) Right is up to 4", 5th true set, growing straight up which I found quite odd... and Left is 4 1/2", 5th set, and growing exactly as I would like, both looking pretty indica dominant so far, but it is a little early to tell for sure. No complaints from those guys..

Clones have not taken, I've thrown away 2 as they just fell apart... I just do not have a green thumb, practice definitely makes perfect. Thought I would take some more from the Indica before it gets too far into Flower, I think I have narrowed down my mistakes- pitched my old Gel, thinking it went bad, and I had not made the cuts underwater- which cause pockets.. and kills em... so I have my whole idea planned out for my next round. Feelin' pretty good.

I've been cranking out the OT these past couple weeks, so a computer will be in the mix within this week. Pics will soon follow. Thank you for the patience everyone.

Came to check things out man. Grow room looks nice clean, and organized. Looks like we both rather do things our self as well. I run dyna-gro and bloom for a few sets of plants and the aurora in flower gets bloom obviously.

It works good but like you I have to add Cal-Mag because there's not enough with the RO water. I have been using General Hydroponics Maxi-gro powder straight for another couple set's and I have not needed the Cal-Mag and the powder goes so far I'm liking it.

I'll be around. Ordered some beans yesterday as well.

HAHA yes you did, sounds crazy- but it's a 5x10' room in the corner of my garage that was a small toilet and shower that was never finished and had a busted pipe in the wall.. so naturally, I turned it into what is now referred to as Narnia. :weed:

My cabinet's fit in there perfect with just enough room to open all four doors and have a "comfortable" walkway- it was literally a blessing in disguise, my 1200 sq ft cellar has flooding issues up to about 6" so if and when I transition to there Ill be in cinder blocks.

I think I will be running this for a while; kid is due in 35 days, not near enough time to comfortably design a new rig.

Though, the big news, I finally decided to contact California Lightworks myself last night with several questions about their lights and Feedback Program.. :) Got the exact response I was hoping at about 4 today.

Now I am a persistent little fuck.. and decided to email them at 3am last night-forwarding it to both their "info" and "wholesale" provider's, then I call this morning before their online support was on and left a message to "Brandon," basically reiterating my email and trying to beef it up a bit, then once the tech support had hit online- I asked them if they had received my message, and of course they say they get several a day and wait it out. lol

Persistent..

About 4 o clock here I had finally gotten my hailstorm of emails.. :) one from George Mekhtarian- the tech support, and Brandon. One answering every question I had asked to the fullest of their ability, and Brandon inviting me to participate in their GFP.

WOOOOO!! So.. I O so cleverly felt up how the ol' lady felt about it, though I have recently sold many things old growing materials that should pay for the light itself, that she would be alright with my new toy.

I am strongly considering this. I am ready for a new light, a strictly flowering panel but not against a full panel, and UVB sup as I have my veg setup right where I want it.. just wanting to move on past my Spectra's, they've been good, but I am ready for a new wave.

The SS400w, for 629. 230w Veg, 320w Flower, 345w F+UVB.. Is wayyyy more than enough for my setup, but Ive always overshot my watts with LED's, play it safe.. though my big concern is the heat dissipation from the UVB bulbs, since they will be on the back of the cabinet and by the doors, so ventilation is going to be a little interesting.. been thinking of drilling pilot holes along the UVB fixtures to let air rise through more naturally. Any thoughts?

Along with my new SLH that have already germed.. within 12 hours of starting the process (fucking score man...)- I am hitting this thing head on and will be starting an entirely seperate journal if and when this all happens; but still continuing on this thread once I get my computer hooked up.

Tangerine Dream kiddo's are eating everything I throw at em; just made my 3rd res change with 490ppm- 150Cal/Mag, other Dyna Gro.

I had given them their first dosage of Gro solution at 3 weeks old, of 350ppm total, and within two days they were down to 280- so I cranked it up this time and the leaves are still "perky," so we'll see what these kids cant handle ;) though they did have some minor PH lockout issues one night and have a slight Calcium deficiency from it, but that should be corrected.

I will post my emails with CLW for the few I know would appreciate it, some good information as to fans, dies, etc.

God damn it I am so freaking excited for this light........

Subject: Clarification on the SS400w

Hello Craig, and other emplyee's of CLW,

* *My name is Scot and I have been using LED lights for about 3 years
now, running the beginning UFO's to larger 3w diode panels. Your lights have
left me with constant intrigue over the past year and a half; I have finally
decided to contact you myself to clarify some important factors before
moving forward with a possible purchase. I have looked your brochures,
specifications, journals, and results- up and down. Though I do have some
questions that I need answered to the fullest if possible:

-Quick little miscommunication- Is there a 2, or 3 year warranty? One page
says 2, the other 3- thought I would drop this in your ear as you may want
to catch that..
--> Our Warranty is 3 years. *We increased our warranty from 2 to 3 years at
the beginning of 2012. *Please let me know where our documentation need to
be updated.

-What kind of LED chips does your company use in their lights?
--> LedEngin LZ1 series 5W diodes.

-The configuration of the 5w diodes? True 5w chip or multiple chips? Both
have their pro's and con's.
--> Single die, 5W diodes. *Key advantage: *Higher driver current, better
quality primary optics

-What are the actual specified nm of each diode used for each determined
spectrum, obviously these show the surrounding nm's of the rating, but am
curious what the specific rating is for each. Along with the ratio that they
are distributed in, please.
--> We have the wavelengths listed in our documentation. **You're welcome to
review the specification sheets on the LedEngin website for more details.
The ratios vary by type. *We spent considerable R&D effort to optimize this
ratio for best results for each phase.

-How are the LED array's arranged from the driver's?
--> *Not sure what you mean. *Each of drivers is maximum 100W. *Depending on
LED wavelength, the number of LEDs per circuit varies. *On the SolarStorm
400, for example, we have 4 drivers each driving on average 20 LEDs in
series (Total of 80 x 5W LEDs). (I had meant like... how many red's, blue's, white's are inline on one driver)

-Bins of your led's, any details?
--> We only buy from the top 2 tier efficacy bins

-What brand and style of Warm White LED's are used in your panels? Again,
The ratio of the LED array is probably my biggest concern.
--> Again LedEngin. *The exact ratio is proprietary but it's in the
neighborhood of 10%.

-Another concern- I see that 90* len's are the "primary" lens, is there
120-130* len's used anywhere? a variety of 60, 90, 120*'s? Saw the 130*
below the 90* in the brochure- but was somewhat confusing, wanting some
clarification there. And what is the layout on the panel if there is a
variety of len's? (what len's on what nm diode, location on board..)
--> Again, please see the LedEnin datasheet for more details. *We don't use
secondary lenses. *All LEDs are uniform 90 degree primary optics. *You can
find the definitions of "Viewing Angle" vs. "Total included angle" can be
found on the LZ1 datasheet. *For all intents and purposes, 90 degrees is the
same as the "Beam Angle" mentioned on all

-What style of mounting do you use to mount your diodes to your board?
--> SMT mounting on MCPCB

-Any details on the cooling fans used on the 400w? Brand, rating, power
draw, and most importantly- pushing air through or pulling air out?
--> 2 x NMB 80mm AC axial fans (5W each). *Pushing air through. *Air flow
optimized for the heat sink

-In the brochure in "Expected Life Span-" there is nothing stated, though
below that is the "Projected Life Span-" which states 80,000 I believe,
would like some details on this as well.
--> Our design is well proven. *We have units out in the field for over 4
years now. *All components have a lifespan of 5+ years.

* *I thank you in advance for answering my questions to the best of
your ability as I hope to be doing business with you all soon.

* *This brings me to my recent discovery, the Feedback Program is now
running for the SS400's; I would enjoy advertising these lights if we could
clarify some details and discuss a discount of sorts- as I am a member of 3
forums, 2 having specific LED subforums that I previously journal in. My
concerns for this- my location and personal security, I have a young one on
the way and priorities must be in line, and what kind of discount we could
agree upon for advertising a full, and maybe multiple journals. If we can
move forward with the Feedback Program, please let me know if and when I
need to put in an "application," and how I would be "selected?"
--> No problem. *We can get you into our program.

Thank you for taking time to read through this email, and I look forward to
hearing your input.

But, It's happening.. haha.

thank Alex, I am super stoked.. hoping they'll just let me do my Testimonial Journal here so I do not have to run 2 seperate runs, or copy/paste all the time.
