i agree w daggy, mh's are great for veg, they tend to have tighter nodes then hps', but man, you should run both of them during flowering if you can, you'll thank me later..I have been using my 400w metal halide 36000 lumen bulb alongside a 400w hps 55000 lumen for veg in a 5x5 area. Am I better off switching out the metal halide for the added lumens. The hps bulbs say they are spectrally enhanced.
yes, although i've never done it myself, i've read numerous times that plants that receive both mh and hps light are usually the ones that do the best out of entire grows.... like i've read where they have an hps covering x plants, and and mh plants covering y plants, but the plants that fell more in the middle, the x and y plants, all did the best.. i'm dying to run a test myself, but as of now, don't have the room to do so.. mh's have more uv light that hps lack, and hps tend to have more red light, which is better for flowering, so the combo of both is great for plants from all i've read..Thanks, I guess I will keep it on, its a brand new bulb, I only used it for a week when I first got it on my last grow, before switching to flowering. I didnt add, I have a 600w 95000 lumen digital bulb that I am going to add when the plants fill out more, along with either the 400w hps or metal halide, but you think I should keep the metal halide the whole run? I will add I have a couple of autos in the tent. Its a 5x5x7 with 4 15gal pots and 7 5 gal buckets soil grow.
I wouldn't mix spectrum for flower. The loss of red spectrum and lumens wouldn't be worth the UV IMO.I have been using my 400w metal halide 36000 lumen bulb alongside a 400w hps 55000 lumen for veg in a 5x5 area. I need to get a dual bulb hood so i can run mine together, totally forgot they made them til this comment.
