I smoked 28 years ago And had to stop. Now that I will be able to smoke again. I bought three glass pipes They all came with cone shaped bowls, I've never had this before and don't know how the screen stays in the bowl? What changed about pipes and bongs that I missed Any help will be appreciated Denris

If the bowl is deep enough I just bend the screen over my pinky and push it down into place that way. Always seems to hold fine.
Although I never use glass pipes because - they break, they're impossible to clean properly, and the bowels always seem be way to small to fit a screen properly.
I would suggest a metal 4 piece pipe, fixes all that, plus some even come with a lid.

Thanks I think I might make new bowls out of brass fittings because I just broke the stem on one of the bongs playing with it denris

You don't need screens in glass pipes.
you do unless you want to be sucking down ash as well as smoke.

Possibly but don't grind your bud then. Screens are for metal pipes, and Alzheimer's. I think smoking aluminum and metals isn't too safe for ya.

yeah, i never use a screen in glass pipes either, and i don't end up sucking down ash. just gotta be careful the first few times you smoke out of it, other then that i've never had an issue..

same thing i do.. fill up w/e with some 99% iso, or even ethyl acetate, butyle acetate, mek, w/e i have laying around at the time, and soak that bad boy in it for a few hours.. i'll fill the pipe with chems, hold my finger over the carb and the bowl piece and shake shake shake for any tougher spots..
then i'll run it under the faucet for a few minutes to wash out any chems.. perfectly clean piece..

i do remember all of those old metal pipes though, that's all i used for years and years, but imvho, noting beats the taste out of a nice glass pipe..

I love glass, by far the best flavor. I agree with everything racer just said. No need for a screen, just smoke a couple bowls out of it, and the weed will stay put nicely. Yes glass can break, and its sad when you loose a pipe that you love, but its a good excuse to get a new one too . Generally my nice pipes or ones made by specific artists don't really get used much though they are mostly for my collection. That way if I break a cheapo pipe I don't feel bad about it. I love buying a new pipe anytime I go on vacation, its an awesome souvenir that helps you think about the trip every time you smoke. I'm sure I've got well over 30 pipes right now, but thats really nothing compared to some peoples collections.

im just not a fan of metal. as the for alzhiemers metal screen thing dont use aluminum , there are other metal screens and even glass screens that wont cause harm
also for the record there is no scientific proof that smoking those can cause Alzheimer. i think its more of a myth

I got stopped at the boarder going to Canada one night and one of the dumb asses with me had a pack new of screens stuck in the back of his wallet. Needless to say they searched the shit out of our car. Thankfully we had nothing with us and they let us go. They did make sure to stop us on the way back though and check again once they ran our IDs the second time.
what boarder? they can be assholey at some, i stopped going to america they would rip my car apart every time when i went over. i have a clean record too.
never gone anything in my life.
