SCROG- how full should screen be?

I'd leave a bit of space in the screen for ventilation. Heat rises so any heat under the screen would be swept up, also if you have ventilation pulling the heat up and out the cool air will have more area to sweep in.

hey everyone Ive been curious about Scrogs..what is the purpose of them? does it help produce more bud in limited spaces?

Scrogs do that indeed. Basically instead of allowing the plant(s) to grow straight up the branches are weaved into the screen so that all the bud sights get ample amounts of light.

so basically its kinda like topping your plant..but way more controlled..so do you you end up with more equally sized buds?...just curious...the only thing that would bother me is that I couldn't take each plant out individually and smell it and such..lol..so overall do you highly recommend it?

Yes you will get equally proportioned buds that finish at the same time, on the whole it is a very good may of maximising your yield to area ratio. It is well worth a go as you can sometimes yield the same off one plant grown scrog than two or three grown vertically without training.

really thats awesome because my space is limited as well...what do you do if you get a male? just cut it and carefully pull it out? do the branches grow togethor? and about how far above the pots do you put the screen?...sorry for all the questions but I am seriously thinking about this method...is it a pain to water them ...for instance your plants in the back of your grow?

First SCROG is typically done with clones, so you know you are getting a female. If you wanna SCROG I recommend finding a mother amongst ur plants first. Watering can be a bitch, I've always used a wick system to pull the water from trays when things got too cramped.

thanks man..I was thinking of using my fem seeds..as far as watering I was thinking of hooking up some type of tubing to run to my plants and then have have that connected to a main watering source...something that would keep me from having to weave in and out to water them...do you think 3 plants for a 3 x3 area would be to much or would you just go with 2?

I wish I could be of more help, but this is my maiden voyage into the SCROG!

I have read that 1 plant per square foot is a good rule.

I read that 8 inches is a good height to set screen, but keep in mind that each strain grows differently.

Usually the plants that get put into these systems are already sexed, so no males should ever be found. I did not sex these because this is my first grow and I can get my clones now, before I induce fruit. My next batch will be females for sure, but I could end up with all males for all i know on this one.

This is called DWC I think, but I also have the system recirculating into an external reservoir. You my friend should look into an ebb & flow or a drip system.

I am planning on changing my nutes and adding the Kool Bloom tonight, so any more tips would be good.

thanks man! i will be watching for sure because I am really thinking about giving this a shot on my next grow..I have fem seeds..so I think I am going to limit my space to 2 or 3 plants max...for sure 1 Lemon Skunk fem, 1 Strawberry Cough Fem, and possibly another strain..maybe Trainwreck fem..I hate to croud my screen to much...but for me I dont sell and smoke that often so I think it might benefit me to get as much from 3 strains in one grow because I just like the selection..getting a 1/2 oz of each plant would satisfy me cause I have a good storage of selections going right now anyway..check out my current grow if you get a chance...i am posting new pics today
