Scrog in trays—> RDWC buckets ?

What’s up guys,

Current set up-

Vegging in trays, in root riot plugs. Then into 4 inch rock wool.
4 FT T5 H0, 4 Bulb.
5-6 week veg time.

Then they have been moving to my RDWC buckets
I have a 4 and a 6 bucket set up, under a 600& 1000 HPS. So 10, under 1600 watts with two controller buckets.
.

So i built a scrog net, which i’m going to add once these girls are harvested.

But i have 20 or so vegging right now. Early weeks still.

I want to do a proper scrog run. Knowing I need to start it in veg, I’m going to top them tonight.
But I figure I should also start to LST them. The top again. Then move to flower.

Do you guys have a good way to LST in trays in which you will be transferring them to buckets?

Hoping to create a more even canopy and utilize all my lighting and hopefully increase those yields a bit.

I’m pulling like 2.5/3/4 ounces with just topping them once and then doing a bit of LST once they move to flower and then support them as they progress through flowering. Gets ugly with all these strings pulling shit here and there.
This run I tried to lollipop them a bit which I can see the pros of that becuase Id say these tops look bigger than previous runs in which I left those popcorn nugs.

I’m hoping with a better canopy and maybe a slightly longer veg time(6/7 weeks, instead of 5) can maybe pull those up to closer to 4oz per. I feel like that’s a do able number , obviously strain and other shit dependeant, but yeah haha.

Any insight? Is this stupid idea?

Should I bring them to the buckets and not flower them right away and veg them under the net a bit first?

I start with a topping at the beginning. Let those grow another 4 nodes or so then top those again. Once all those are about a foot high I supercrop them down in a circle so to speak then my net goes on top. I do the net thing once there moved to flower room. I switch it to MH 18/6 for about 10 days to get things going.

Okay word that answers my questions.

I topped them.
Wait for what i topped to get another 4 nodes or so then top again.
I’ve never super cropped but seems easy enough.
then move to flower room, but have light veg for a week, then flip?
Flowering room has scrog in place

I think most scrog to soon, let them grow first so when you put the net on them it holds them down. When you supercrop they stand back up again in aa couple days.Tying them down is a pain.

Lots of ways to scrog a plant. I have taken large plants that are 5 feet tall and 3 feet wide, put them under a trellis, slide the trellis down while "pressing" the plants branches out sideways in all directions to take a tall plant and make it short and wide. It's higher stress training and works best with strains that don't have really woody branches. Gorilla Glue, Kandy Kush are a few that love it.

Cool so I’m topping at 4th week and 6th week from seed pop then moving to flower.

what would be a general height to make the legs for my scrog?

Am I wanting the plants to be touching the net before the stretch? Or be like a foot under the net so they stretch and can tuck for a bit?

All depends on how tall your plants get at finish. I don't personally want more than a foot above the top net, to hold the bud weight. The lower layers are for training and on my rig I can slide those up and down. I usually use two layers for training in my setup, one for the initial press and another above 6 inches higher to get the final spread, then at least two above that to hold the buds up when in later flower. Many ways to skin that cat though and you just have to go based on your plant sizes.

Okay makes sense.

i feel like ill only be able to have one net. I’d like them to end up about a foot about the net.
Think i’ll start them in flower about a foot below.

Last run I started lollipooping/ stripping in like last week of veg. Not sure that was the best for end yield result.

Should I do a strip after they are in flower? And strip all leaves and bud sites below the net? when’s the best time to do that?

Thats all dependent on the strain and the grower.

As to trellis height, if you are going to use it for training you will need it low.

Okay sounds good.

I’ll play around and see what’s good.

With out any net and just topping once then a minor lst i’ve been getting around 2-3 ounces a plant. and i realized i was only doing a 5 week veg.
With those same genetics, with proper scrogging and topping twice and a 6 week veg do you think pulling 3-4 ounces a plant is do able ?

why not just get an ebb and flow table and scrog on that?
get a lb or 2 a table XD
