Scrog Q

I am currently on my 1st grow things are going well, however I was thinking of ordering some seeds and doing a scrog my next go around, after reading a bit about it I see you use the screen to train the plant around, thus getting equal amount of light to the bud sites however I was wondering how do you guys do this from seed?? I imagine it would be a bitch to get the males out of the screen, plus once removed you'd have a huge gap in your screen that could be for another female. >_<

Can I veg them out until they show their sex with preflowers, than throw the screen over it and start flowering?? The plant is suppose to double or triple in size once you flower so would that work or is it a necessity to train the plant during vegetative stage as well??

I was thinking about using a mom to clone from, but I really don't feel like setting up another separate room and all, so I'd prefer not to have to >_>

Anyways, thanks for any info! Much appreciated!

Yes, wait until females are established and you won't need to
put the screen on until they have reached the height you want
your screen...It also helps to have two screens, got me a
scrog/sog going right now.

I want to veg them for about 5-6 weeks maybe 7 so I can get a nice yield, but if I veg them this long without a screen (so I can weed out the males) how much harder will it be to train it through the screen? I'd imagine the stem would be fairly stiff?

Thanks alot for the replies so far guys!

They will not be very bushy or thick at 6 weeks veg., and should
be easily removed and replaced...just be cautious of the roots...

You can still train the branches that late...I started a few weeks
into flower.

hey growgirl,

i am currently doing a scrog grow, from seed. i veged with no screen. about a week before flowering i topped them and LST'd them, to get them to bush out. once the males and shown themselves after a few days of 12/12, I installed the screen, and things are going very nicely.

here is a pic taken today.
