To scrog... u just take like chicken wire... and put it over top of the plants? with each branch in a different hole of the fence? and then they grow out through it?
when should i do this? right before flowering?

Depending on veg time you should'nt need support. How old and how tall are they now? When using clones I usually veg. for one week and then turn lights off. I just stake them. The fencing you are considering can be cumbersome and is rough. You could lose branches when tending. If you do need similar support you can pick up a string grid from your local nursery, grow shop, etc... I would nstall the grid approx. 2-3 weeks into flower.
Most stretch should be done by 3rd week. If your plants are 8"-10" prior to flowering you can expect a finish at 2' or so. This isn't technically sog though.
