ScrOG tips

I’ve dabbled in past but trying my best on this one. Any info or helpful tips for the best ScrOG possible. 5 plants under 600 watt hps. About 28 inches away from canopy. Plants are 5 weeks old, started flower yesterday. Planning on chopping most of what’s under net, letting stuff stretch here in next week or so then tuck everything????

I wouldn’t cut off the undergrowth just yet.
some would, but I prefer to first see where the tops are headed and then go for a nice defoliation in week 2-3 of 12/12. You can probably cut the undergrowth in a few more days or when you see sustained stretching.
You can also continuously defoliate but not more than a few leaves at a time per plant so you don’t shock it too much

I would do some lst to bend those branches outward and open up the inside of the plant to more light to allow more bud sites to reach the net, you'll get a better shape to fill out the scrog. I usually would start doing this in veg, but you still have time to take advantage of the stretch period, which is around two weeks, but varies.

Stech time depends on the plants. We can't really tell you how long they will stretch for.

If you cut off suckers during stretch it can help slow down the stretch as the plant will refocus energy to healing what you chopped off.

I was looking at your room. What did you make it out of? It looks like cool imo.

I've always left the lower stuff until after the stretch, my thinking was that the plant can focus growth to what's left rather than having to share the foid/growth all over ?
That's just a presumption I'm I wrong?

Personally I do my absolute best to remove all of that during veg and then small clean ups after stretch.

However if they are looking to control stretch cutting off stuff during it can slow it down a bit.

Not that I recommend it if you don't need to do it. But it is a way to control it.

I have mistakenly done it with some outdoor crops a couple years back.

Everyone does it different. I've had success defoliating most of what's under the net a few days before flipping to flower and then selective defoliation until 2-3 weeks in. Good luck!

I've stopped using a screen from the start, it gets in my way, in fact it keeps me out of the tent, what I do now is just let them grow as you would with tying/lst, then around flipping I soften all stems and lay them at 90 degrees then net them, a week later I can't tell the difference.
My last crop netted 2/3rd week 12/12

My current crop, the back 2 were netted 2 weeks ago they're around 3 weeks 12/12 today +/- a day.
Just ignore the front half...
Here's one of the back ones just prepared to go under the net.

I think it's worth passing on that with a full screen you have 2 temperature zones above and below the canopy.

Ventilation generally comes in below the screen, when cold its easy to chill below the screen if you don't have some arrangement for getting warm air down to the pots/roots area.

Can i just. Chuck a net over 4 monster cropped plants
There about 55cm tall no training
Can i just go straight down to the lowest branch and tuck all above in to a square???

Yes imho it's easily the best return for the least work.

You say they're 55cm tall, I'd make it 55cm wide lol, height is no good to us we want width so that the whole plant gets intense light not just the tops.

I was thinking of putting a net over and bending the main over then filling with the side shoots and cleaning up any that dont make the screen. Iv 4 like the 1 in the pic i need to do somthing or they will just shade its self and ill end up with shit loades of larf

This didn't have a Christmas tree shape, it was tied over and topped way back. _20201215_170023.JPG
I'm not sure the definition of monster cropping but this might qualify?
