Scrubbing air, which side?

When someone is scrubbing the air in their room and not exhausting it, What side of the fan do they put the filter on? Air sucking in through the filter and pushed away by fan (filter on fan intake)? Or Ambient air sucking in from the fan then pushed out the filter (filter on fan exhaust)?

I had it sucking in through my filter and the fan was pushing air out, but it made the room too hot by pushing hot air around. Now it's sucking in ambient air and pushing out the filter. Created a vacuum in the tent which is nice but doesn't seem to be amazing for odor control so far. 6" 435 cfm fan and 6" phresh can filter.

Is is either way more effective for odor control?

Phresh says you can do it both ways. Check their YouTube vids. I've seen guys install filters on both sides for added odor control. And I've seen guys use scrubbers on the intake and uv filters on the exhaust. If u need more info lemme know I have saved threads about it in my user notes. U can either check it yourself or I'll link it here if you want.

The idea behind putting the filter on the intake is that the pre filter traps larger particles before going into the carbon but Phresh says their filters can go on either side. http://m.youtube.com/?#/watch?v=8QqJB4v77VQ. Check it out at about 1 minute in. If ur not getting adequate odor control then perhaps you need a filter on both ends with the pre filter removed on the exhaust because it's not needed.
