Sea of green??

so anyway can anybody elaborate on the SOG tech? ive gotten mixed responses from people on how to do it, and it seems shrouded in mystery.ive been told that you just crowd a shit ton of plants in one area and prune a lot, but from a respected member of this site that i basically live with told me it just involves putting a couple plants under some chicken wire, let all the light be angled toward the top of the plant, simply cutting away all but the new shoots, and let it grow a huge canopy of bud. this way all the nutrients go to the bud and not the bottom of the plant.sooo which is right?

It sounds like your buddy is referring to the ScrOG technique rather than SOG. SOG = sea of green, ScrOG = screen of green. They both work and are right, it's up to you to decide which is your preferred method.

SOG in my eyes is plants that grow thru a netting or trellis and keeps being pushed back under the top so it can keep growing larger and fatter buds.

this was my first attempt at a SOG..largely a fail because the netting wasnt secured to the wall cept for duct tape.

I was thinking that what jesus described was a scrog..and that sog was just a bunch of single cola plants with little or no veg time....

That is very correct.

SCROG uses a screen to grow the plants through and each time they pop above the screen you bend them back under.

SOG is mulititude of small single cola plants.

You are correct, Jesus is wrong. SOG is just a mass of plants (usually clones grown in smallish containers) so that every lumen of light hits some plant surface. A very good way to grow a normaly ineficient plant like Sativas that have lanky stretchy growth.

mmm well i was just looking for a way to earn a larger profit with what i got, as i am currently observing a friend grow and hopefully starting my own in a while.thanks for the valuable info people, although what works best for scrog?chickenwire, fencing, wire mesh, rope net i've heard of them all and more, and i believe chickenwire whould do the best, is this a correct assumption?

string or plastic netting will do.you can make you own if you cant buy it.you obviously dont want the holes in the netting to be too small or it'll reduce light pentration.
