Sealed Grow Room a/c question.

If i used reflectors with no ventilation, but aimed some fans at them to disperse the heat, would this in conjunction with ac keep my temps ok?

Also, do you know anything about the electronic ignition co2 gen? Does having an electronic ignition mean that the heat produced is less?

It might, trial and error is the only real way to get your grow room going properly. I have no experience with that Co2igniter thing, I use a 20lbs Co2 tank and a regulater on a timer. Cost me $140.00 for the tank at a welding supply store and 180.00 for the regulator, $30.00 every three weeks to fill the tank.

yeah, i've been debating bottled vs the generator, and been looking at the gen because tanks last longer and you can get more dispersal. If they do produce too much heat i think ill go with the bottled.
 
go on ebay and search cool tube i like air cooled hoods better yet dpends how much you want to spend. But air cooled or water cooled lighting is the only way to go

water cooled c02 generators are the only ones that dont produce much heat. all others have an open flame burning either gas or propane. no matter electronic or otherwise.
i have bottles. and regulators. check craigslist.

if you have one powerful 8" fan with a "Y" Going to two rows of two lights that have been vented, you can effectively cool your 4kw with less than half of the power that would be consumed without the ducting.... it is worth the effort.

well, ive been thinking about what all of you have said and think i will go with air cooled hoods. It will help with temps. I am just going to have to put some holes in or something. I have a 6 in vortex fan and was wondering if that would cool 4 1000w? or do i need to upgrade to an 8 in?

i would estimate 300+ cfm per 1k. so no dont use the 6" vortex. and if you dont want to waste a ton of money on a fancy inline fan. go to harborfreight.com and get one of the 8" fans they have. they are beastly! est. 2kcfm rating. itll save money for ya.

No you will not be able to cool a sealed room with four unvented 1000w lamps with less than about 4 tons of ac., that is 48000 btu's. Let alone the co2 generator.
There must be a way to ventilate that many lights or this isn't a normal building.

Hey guys, I'm planning on making a sealed grow room with 4 1ooow lights, an electric ignition co2 generator and an ac. I've heard to use 3500 btu a/c / for each 1000w, but I'm not sure. I also heard that co2 generators produce a lot of heat and humidity. Is this also true with the electric ignition generators? I will also be using a dehumidifier. So would a 14000 btu ac work? The room dimensions are 10 L x 8 W x 8 H.
you are going to want to go with 4000 btu per 1000 and make sure they are ducted,depending on the a/c unit you get it will have a dry feature,regardles the first thing an a/c does is dehumidify the air.so as far as size goes you want about 16000 to 18000 btu

You need to do some more research homeboy.
Sealed rooms must have:
Air cooled lights or a massive AC unit burning tons of power. 4000 BTU of cooling per 1000W is applicable to air cooled lights only.
A carbon filter with a fan on top recirculating and scrubbing the air. A room with 4k generates enough stink to alert anyone within 50' of your house.
Dehumidifier. An AC unit helps during lights on. When lights go off temps fall below the threshold that triggers the AC. Humidity then goes way up.
The only benefit of CO2 gens with electronic ignition is no heat from a constant pilot and a better safety factor for the same reason.
These are just the basics. So again, I suggest you do more research before you spend a lot of dough. I made a lot of mistakes when I went sealed that cost a lot of money. Could have avoided it with just a little reading and patience.

Fred is right. Currently finishing my sealed room setup. Running 1200 watts (3x 400w) air cooled to flower, 800 watts (2 x 400w) air cooled to veg, flouro panel for clones/seedlings, Mitsubishi 9000 BTU ductless mini-split system wall mounted in room for AC. Veg and flower room seperated by panda film doorway with zip-up entrance. Sentinel CHHC-4 environmental controller with compressed CO2 tank. It also controls my dehumidifier. Still finializing the room, but so so close (1 week or so).
