second grow need opinions

I plan on using a 4x4 area with a 400 W HPS light. I will be dividing a closet in half after thoroughly disinfecting it. I do plan on making a screen so I can scrog. Oh ya i'll be using feminized white widow from cannabisseeds dot com. I'm torn between hydro or soil. What do you all think? Also any tips on how to make a good SCROG setup? I would like max yields, obviously --- but cost is also an issue.

Any and all help is appreciated.

A side note- while I wait for the WW seeds, I;m growing some bag seeds which i may or may not finish off but i;ll just be using CFLs for that. I'm going to make a grow journal for both grows, tho.

If money is an issue and you have no hydro stuff yet I'd say soil but both are pretty expensive and you'll have to shell out some money to get a good production! Hope others can give you more advice!

While cash is an issue, I don't mind if it will increase yields, etc. Other tan the lights, what else costs a lot? nutes? and would hydro or soil be more cost-effective considering my space and lighting. (i plan on getting this one--http://www.prolighting.com/soush400q-k.html unless someone else knows of a better value)

I have just orded some seeds of the same web site have you had seeds from this site b4.If you are gonna split a 4ft/4ft in harf this will not give you alot of room to play with.I would leave the grow room has it is and have this has the flowering room only.Make a small unit that you will be able to take some clones just before you flower.All you will need is a couple of flouresents and a few wall mounted cfl's this will keep the clones at a size that will be fine till the 8 week flowering is over.Once the 8 week is over you will prob need to put the clones under the hps for a week or so.Flower at a size that is not too big and you should get a nice crop.I have never strayed from attitude b4 so it will be interresting to see what the seeds are like i have orderd fem white widow and jack herer my hall time favourite plant.

KellyKapur, I would recommend getting an assembled ballast instead, unless you are skilled in electronics and feel like assembling a ballast. You can always find a fair deal on ebay or add a light to a hydroponics online order. Having a good high quality light to start out with makes things so much easier, and gives you better yields.
