Second Grow :)

well, i am setting up my grow box.. i wanted to switch it up
so, i kind of took apart my litter computer desk drawer set..
& took apart the drawer sliders & what not to make a door..
it looks like the drawers are still there though :D
the measurements of the box (20" in depth 23 1/2" in height & 14" in width)
i haven't finished the door up yet.. i'm thinking of buying hinges
so i can easily open it & close it whenever
but also thinking of making a secret lock under the box
so no one knows how to get inside of the grow box
but then again both of them would work together haha

anyway for the lights.. i have a fluorex 6500k but needs a fluoro fixture
i searched online how to make your own fluoro fixture.. it's hard as hell
i'm no electrician either so i will stick with the CFL's for now

so what do you guys think about it?
i will update after i get some more done :)

^ haha yeah :D

from the outside though..
i have the air circulation already planned
behind that wall where my drawer set is against leads outside
so i'm going to grab a "squirrel cage fan" haha
i have an temp/humidity thing & pH tester (i just don't know how to use it)
i just hope i get a FEMALE this time :( lol

grow box is still in the works though :D

i haven't started my second grow yet
but i watered my first seedling a cup filled (2 1/2 inches)
like enough & not enough but once the top was dry i did it again
i would say it was every 3-4 days it was steady & maintained (worked well)

how about you?

i just screwed the hinges on the drawer door
i just need to figure out the lighting.. how i should set it up

does anyone know if i can buy an HPS (any watt) at home depot? or somewhere?
just a thought.. i don't feel like ordering it online or whatever..

anyway, i'll germinate in about 2 or 3 days :D

well, i just freestyled the lights... it's whatever
i'm going to let it hang inside & get 2 hooks with 2 chains
so i can drop it & raise it whenever.. duh.. haha

just so you know
those were sample bulbs not what i'm using..

how big was the cup they were in? was it one of those 18 oz (532ml) dixie cups?

^ no, they were in 4 1/2" wide & 4" tall clay pots.. lol
like i said enough & not enough :D

right after i plant the seed i water thoroughly though
after i pour gently & slowly where i planted it
then once it sprouts i pour a centimeter away & around from the stem
sounds dumb.. but i guess that's just how i do it.. lol

i have heard that if you buy a vertical hps you must keep it vertical. same with horizontal. not 100% sure on this. but i have a 70 watt hps from a past grow thats just hanging out. it is vertical and it says to keep it vertical. if you want to do it right(putting an hps in your cab) you will have to get a horizontal hps with a cool tube, either a do it yourself or complete kit. i'm not trying to run your grow or anything but if i were using that sized space I would grow 1 or 2 plants and LST with diy cool tube. using a pyrex bread baker and a 250 HPS light. if you do it right you could have everything you wanted out of it. and you still have time to get going.


oh, and is your sig a journal for this current grow?

^ i know, it's just i'm not into the whole buying online
i was looking at some of the HPS & HID's over the net
& searching for them at like regular stores but you know
when you search 1 word they bring a totally different topic
but i think i have seen some decent bulbs as seen online
with those hanging & vertical light lamps or whatever..
thanks though man i would do something like that
if i could afford & find one to match my preferences.. you know?

but yeah this is going to be my start to finish (journal)

i just finished wiring my intake & outtake fans.. i might start germinating tomorrow & see what's up with that lol
all that's left is installing the fans, hanging the lights, wiping down the box with clorox wipes & putting the reflective material up

close to done :)

^ i got them from an old computer tower
they contain 3 in 1 tower but you only really need 2
& the other one actually needs to be taken out of the battery
if you have an old computer tower you don't use
you should take the fans out & put some of that junk in use :D

but, i just installed the fans & they work like i want them to
the bottom is the intake & the top is the outtake
i tested it with just the intake (on) & the air blows up & out of the outtake fan (off)
enough to feel from 4" away so i think it will keep some decent airflow
along with the mini oscillating fan i'm going to put inside to blow towards the plant ;)

now i'm going to work on hanging the lights
