hey bass idk how i missed this thread but im here now. so good to see what your doing......
will be wathcing and learning along with you.
most growers on the shroom sites agree that the flushes yeild way more after a dunk. eventually those cakes are going to blossom like mad.

i just wish i could be seeing better results.
on my first grow, which i detailed greatly with pics, i had better and quicker results going from jar to terrarium without dunk and roll.
if you missed that one go check it out. it has more pictures and stuff,
the only difference this time are 21 jars and a more conscience effort on being clean.
so far no contam but very slow growth.

i have em
finally got pinning on a cake. i like my odds.
just some more time i think now is all i need.
i also have changed a couple of things. i removed the air stone and have changed the location of the terrarium,
i had placed a thermometer in the original location and had 60-55 degrees.
now i am closer to 70.
anyhow here is a pic.

depends on what kind of jars. If they are brf with verm no need. If your using anything else you should have some sort of air exchange. I usually put a hole in the middle of the jar lid and fill it with polyfill.

nah 70 will work are u using the perlite for humidity? if so you could always put some water in the bottom and throw a fish tank heater in the bottom to bring up your temps. I usually like mine to be around 74-76 but 70 will work.

I don't ususally wait until I see pins. I give my cakes about 5 days after the outsides are completely colonized then I dunk for 16 hours then birth them with a double end casing.

possibly they say a 10 to 15 degree drop from incubating temps which at max should be 86F.
so fruiting at 70-75F?

i think it is a 15 gallon tank but not sure. it looks half the size of the 30gallon one i have sitting next to it so i guessing the one in the pic is around 15. i have soaked perlite on the bottom and the cakes on top of that although i do have a "seperator" between the cakes and the perlite.the water in the perlite has been treated with approx. 2ml of 50% h2o2 and i used about a gallon.i keep the glass of the tanks against my basement concrete walls as that seems to help with keeping the humidity up.
i will post a more detailed update in a few days with things i have done and pictures for those who have trouble visualizing.

just checking in again and looking to say that 4 out of five cakes have pinning and that means that all threee strains will be grown, F, Z and Hawiian
will get pics in a day or two when they get bigger,

if you are doing brf with the dry verm layer on top you don't need to leave the tape covering the holes. This will only slow down incuabtion time and could cause them to stall. The dry verm barrier will keep contams out just fine. You probably did a good thing by removing the air stone, I tried using bubblers in mine when I first started for air exchange but it dried out my fc and killed my humidity levels. What I do is I have an air pump in a small plastic tub with a hepa filter on top and run a hose into each side of the fc and pump fresh air in for 15 mins every 4 hrs. I also have holes in the side of my fc that are covered with tyvek so this provides total air exchange I never have to manually fan my fc.

how experienced are you jack? i think i speak for everyone in saying that we're grateful for experienced suggestions here. this section gets very little love on r.i.u and we need to change that up!!
now, where is the hepa filter in your fc? on the bottom? is the tyvek neccessary and is your fc covered with anything?

that's sick bro. mine are in the pressure cooker now. they don't all fit in there at the same time...what should i do with the ones that have been sterilized while the others are in the pc?

no worries. i assume pc means pressure cooker.
first i am no expert.
second heres what i see. the pressure cooker is going to be fairly quick for sterilization. i dont use one (PC) and have to steam mine for 1hr15 min atleast.
usually 1.5hrs.
it does not matter that you cannot fit all in. you should be waiting atleast 3-4 hours minimum under strict circumstances for the jars to cool.
you should wait 24 hours for them to cool but i have done it within 3-4.
so while waiting for the first batch you can sterilize the second. either way you can wait until they are all cool and then inoculate.
it does not matter if you make up all the jars and let a few sit while some are sterilizing. just be careful when opening the pc and removing the jars to cool.

i just found my aquarium heater and as soon as i have an extension cord will set that up.
i was thinking of setting the temp to 76 degrees and letting it sit on the wet perlite. any thoughts?
anyhow here are some pics. not in any particular order. also i took a picture of the foam salad bowls i am using to keep the cakes off the wet perlite. i cut out the bottoms to save some space as i dont really need that deep or wide of a bowl. plus they are cheap and you can get like 50 or 100 in the papper plate section of local market. 2-3 bucks maybe?

by the way i felt i needed to harvest at this point due to the veils were broke already on most of the shrooms.
the cake was cleaned and is now soaking for 24 hours. i will roll and place back into terrarium. no contams so far

ok that cake was rolled and placed back into FC.
i have two more pictures
one of another cake and one of a spore print from the above picture of shrooms on a plate.
you can see the largest stem is missing its cap and that is what i used.
plain tinfoil folded over carefully with the aforementioned cap inside.
i let it sit for 3 days while the shrooms on the plate were drying.
heres what i got.
