Security with a Kick

Hey guys, Excuse the term NIG___ rigged, I just installed a standard security flood light and used the wires off the bulb socket to kick a 12 volt doorbell, The 12 volt is wired to a 12volt car alarm horn, You want to wake up if someone is creaping around, for added awareness put the horn in your cold air duct.... Just use a light switch to turn it off when your dogs are outside, Damn not a good way to wakeup,

I used a standard 110 volt light switch for the on and off rght at the horn,

I just bought a new security light with a night vis camara, will be hooked up next, Thank god for costco.
If anyone needs help I can draw well close to a drawing for wireing help.

So for around $40.00 you can have a great wakeup.

I live in the woods so my light comes on too often for that to help me but I need to
figure out ip cams so I can visit the room when I dont have someone outside to let me know its ok to come out.
I dont want the mother inlaw to drop in and find me all smelly coming out of the room. Not that
I need her permission I just know it would freak her out and I would never hear the end of it.
I will coin the term Mother inlaw Cam..

IP web cams are simple, but if you look for outdoors with built in wifi/web server.... rather than running cables... The cost skyrockets...

Look a the newest Logitech outdoor models... you can do what is called PoE --- power over ethernet... so you just need a network cable that has a low voltage 'injected' on a pair of the unused wires present in a Cat5/6 cable...

The Logitech ones unfortunately are not true web-server enabled IP cameras though... Rather they use what is called HomeLine network or something similar to that name.... they basically inject the IP signal onto the electrical wiring in your house and then somewhere where you can access/connect your physical network (i.e. your router/switch) they have a 'receiver' that pulls that signal back off the electrical lines and turn it back into plain old ethernet (going into the RJ45 jack on your router)... that way if your home isn't wired with Ethernet... the electrical wiring becomes that circuit for you... Not as good usually but good enough for most...

If you don't need outdoors/weatherproof though... there are several good options out there for wifi-enabled cameras with pan/tilt/zoom and many have a true "embedded web server" so you can hit it with a table, your phone, your laptop, etc... Just go into IE/Firefox/Chrome/etc... Hit a URL... bam there's your cam...

You might also search with terms like "Network IP Camera".... a lot of places put them in server rooms, etc...

Hello again, Sorry been busy here,
If you can swing to run a wired Cam, Cat 5 or Cat 6 to a BNC config you can have a very long cable run with no problems.

I have 8 cams here done this way, As we all know IP cams hate storms and any kind or shitty weather. What good is a dead cam.
Worst to worst you can buy a hunt cam, takes pics on movement and saves to a memcard.
atleat u can see if you have anyone looking.

I will take a few pics today and give ya a look into my world of crazy.

Sorry guys I lost my Mem card that had all the baby pics from this new outdoor grow, These pics were just taken 10 mins ago :)

Got Wonder Woman. Train wreck, THAI, White Rhyno, Ultimate and 2 kush, The Train wreck stands 8 foot.... Damn out of fence again, Canadian Govern has allowed me 36 Plants and there is 34 there. Just started to flower 2 weeks ago, so now the time to ramp up security.
All the cams u see are on a 2TB standalone DVR, 2 Ger sheppards 1 at 135lbs and 1 bitch at 115. Cant be to carefull these days.

I even used some strips of plywood with nails hidden with the garden, dont know the path, you go to the DR for help and stitches....

I will post some good pics in the outdoor section later

Anyway see ya soon

Thanks, Just need some more coffee. If everyone just thought about a few strange things from outside the box, We could grow just a little safer.
