Seed Companies In The USA

What do we have being bred in the good ol' US? TGA is produced in Cali isn't it? Colorado has 303 seeds. I just heard that reserva privada Colorado won something at the cup, are they actually from CO?.
I wonder if a seed producer in a legal state could work with overseas breeders to reproduce their product, an make it for sale through legal routes.

Reserva Privada is a branch of DNA Genetics, which, like so many other breeders, is based in the Netherlands. I'm not privy to the exact growing/sales arrangement, but I believe the seeds are actually produced in Holland.

So yes, this is basically a case of exactly what you're describing, namely USA-bred lines being grown for seed in Holland, ultimately for commercial sale.

I don't know where TGA/Subcool makes the seeds, though I think Subcool sometimes posts on this board, so you could probably ask him directly. I strongly doubt its in the USA, though. My guess, again, is probably Europe. The website also lists a bunch of sites in the USA where his seeds are available, so I imagine the same thing holds true. The strain development and commercial seed production may well be on different continents!

As to an open seedbank in the USA, I wouldn't hold my breath for that. Possession of seeds is still illegal in all 50 States under Federal law.

The Obama administration started off tolerant of medical marijuana, but its not been so much lately, and I don't think it would tolerate a seedbank moving product all over the country openly.

I know that you can sometimes find seeds for sale at dispensaries, and again, TGA does list seed distributors in legal MMJ sites on its website. So if you live in a legal MMJ state, you can probably find a distributor that will sell you seeds.

Obviously, you can also probably find seeds on the black market, or find other individuals willing to trade for seeds, though these are obviously not the same thing as a seedbank with a huge variety of product selling on the open market.

There is no USA based seed company. Not yet at least. Once they can start at some point hopefully in the near future that will be the next gold rush; high end genetics seeds.

wrong there are

lets see
The Cali Connection has a branch in cali and started there and we are still here in cali....
Ograskal seeds is in cali and world wide
topdawg seeds in out of the east coast and world wide
TGA is out of the us and world wide
lets see there are others

a seed bank here in the usa would be ahrd but not really considering we ahve clone only dispensaries in cali.. that have nothing but thousands of clones on hand.

but federal law is not to kind on us seed folk.
100 seeds 5 years manditory 1000 seeds is 10 years man. as they looks at it 1 plant is 1 pound and well 1000 plants =1000pounds puts you right about cartel status...
woohoo if i got arrested with my seed stock im looking at roughly 356+years in jail when im a non prior non violent yet 300years something is wrong here
so treat the state seed companies with some dam yall are crazy for doing what yall do...cuz trust we are the ones with ours asses in the air ....

Swerve..... Is correct. Plenty of breeders started, did, and some still do (in med legal states), do their thing in the USA. But with the laws being the way they are, most of us, have moved offshore to more friendly territory.

cant hardly be blamed for that either. LEO treats these nonviolent gardeners like criminals and tosses them in cages with murders and rapists :(

We produce and distribute legally under Colorado law, but as everyone has noted prior, the Feds still rule the land. We don't distribute product outside of Colorado, and our seeds are only retailed by licensed medical centers. We're hoping to avoid the full wrath of The Man by using this model. Don't get me wrong...I've dumped small fortunes on internet vendors and still support the UK with a large percentage of my hard earned cash to source new genetics for the center.

Massive respect and props go to the founding fathers (and mothers) who paved the way, without their work and foundation we'd have nothing to build on. They set the standards and forged ahead in a world that vilified their work and made some into criminals. I for one bow deeply to all the small scale boutique breeders and large scale commercial breeders risking life and limb to give the world access to this great medicine. We consider our little CO seed project to be like a beneficial fungi in the root system of the cannabis community. We're very small, but we do strive to perform a vital service for the organism for a whole. We're looking forward to sharing improved cannabis genetics and knowledge with good people for many years to come.

Seed the world!
