Seed germ documenting

I constantly have a difficult time popping seeds, not sure why, I'm beginning to believe it's the local environment more then distilled vs tap vs RO or sinking the seeds or straight in medium or paper towel method, I have found if I am not 100% as clean as possible about it the seeds won't pop and the paper towel will start to smell within 36 hours. As we speak I have 6 or 8 seeds in paper towels, some that soaked in a cup of water first and some that did not, some in a paper towel in between two plates (which worked for years for me with almost 100% sucuess) and some in a paper towel in a Baggie and some in paper towel and in a Tupperware, all in dark room temp closet (68-72 degrees) and also some i put straight in rapid rooter plugs. Hopefully in the near future I have more seedlings then I know what to do with because I have a great selection of genetics waiting for me and my system in the fridge but want to get my germing rates up and also get the fine tuning of my new system down before I run my named seeds.

Sounds like my exact problem. Only 2 out of the 8 I put down germed and your right its started smelling weird so I put the rest in a pot of soil

Yeah see its testimonials like this that is leading me to believe seed germination while being a very simple yet often over complicated task is different for every single person, even 2 houses down the street, one house might be an ocd clean freak that gets 100% germination sucuess while the other has animals and is your every day house with pollen, mold spores and other bacteria floating around in the air, that being said the bacteria is always there waiting, I have not tried out using h202 during seed germination and I'm no botanist and I'm not sure that bacteria is an issue with seed germing but I feel that it very well could be. If you have a damp paper towel that was exposed to spores of either mold or bacteria, that towel then sits basically stagnant, that's going to harbor a breeding ground for that funk,

I also have had the experience where the seed cracks and you can see the slightest tap root and then growth ceases. Not sure if I was keeping it to wet or if this is because now the funk we mentioned earlier has found its way to the organic matter (being the tap root) and the tap root being just that "a tap root" has no "immune" system and then is instantly killed.

Lol I'm no scientist and I'm sure that is far from what happens but that's my theory; as for eliminating this problem I will see how all these seeds do in all the different methods then I will try using peroxide in the water/spray bottle during seed germing and see if that increases my rates.

Warning.
Take everything with a grain of salt, this is all assumptions.

Butttt I would assume bleach could be used as well I just view it as a harsher option, I very well could be wrong, and as I said with h202 I haven't tried it out yet either but have read up on it being used with good outcomes, I can't say I have read the same thing for bleach, but in a sense at a super diluted mix I could see it doing the same thing, I would still choose to experiment with h202 first seeing as it is actually adds extra oxygen to the water which in essence could be used to the advantage of the freshly popped seed to have some DO (dissolved oxygen) available.

As far as ratios go I'm not sure because I haven't used it with seeds but when I ran it in my res I was fine going as high as 15ml a gallon of the household strength (3% concentration) with no ill effects from the established plants, that being said those are plants with roots and all that good stuff so to just give it a shot the first time I am going to do something like 10ml in a gallon of water and use half that solution and half whatever water I'm using. (Most likely bottled drinking water) so I'll prolly fill a glass half full of the 10ml/gallon mixture and then top off with bottled water, when the seeds sink and crack open use that same water from the glass to wet the paper towel and add a spray or two of the 10ml/gal mix? Just a thought. Would probably be just fine adding 1 ml to a cup of water calling it a day.

Ok so seed germing was another failure I discovers the insides of my seed have been eaten and sucked on my small white worms in the soil, I'm officially calling it quits for this seasons grow and waiting till winters fucked off

Yeah ... Overthinking way too much.
Here is simple way.
I use a regular stryfoam cup and fill with seed starter.
Make small hole - MIST SOIL ONLY
Plant seed . Cover with small plastic cap for a humidity dome.

For warmth i place on warming pad. After a while , i tear cup down side and plant plug ...... It's Stupid simple ..... ( * farts ) ... Sorry

I don't have heating pads and all seed mixes I can find are full of feet balls

Can just see there is too much moisture on the paper towels. Looks like that much water would cause a tap root to mush. Imma soak beans in hydrogen peroxide for a few minutes then transfer to moist folded paper towel in a zip lock bag. Put em in the top drawer of the tool chest then come back to em two days later.

LOL...like it's rocket science??? Moisten some seedling starter mix( you want it damp, not dripping wet. put in solo cup or other small container with drainage hole,..insert seed into soil 1/4 inch and lightly cover with the seedling mix. Set it on top of something warm, like ur refrigerator. I put mine on top of my fluorescent fixture that hangs over my mothers. Spray them with water or seaweed juice a couple of times a day. They usually pop within 48 hrs.
