seed prodlem

I've recently planted a couple germinated seeds and they haven't came up after awhile so i dug them up and im sure some of you are cringing right now but i absolutely had to because i knew something was up and upon doing so i noticed the tails on them have gotten extremely small and almost completely gone. Is this from over watering them? Im assuming so but im just looking for another's opinion. Thanks guys

Just stuck them in some left over miracle grow soil I've had here, the soil was pretty wet so i can only assume it was either over watering or i was just stupid and stuck it in soil I've already used in the past that has who knows what in it for chemicals. I have another that just came up slightly but i repotted the one's that looked damaged(the one's that looked like they could be saved anyways)

No,just some that were given to me by a friend, i got lucky. The one's im waiting for are tho so i really dont want to do this again. I'll definitely be more careful next time I'll use less water and make sure i use proper soil. I've still got one that's growing out of the 5 so far. Hopefully these ones that looked like they could be saved come around

How long were they in there before you checked them? I've seen some seeds take up to two weeks to break the surface.

Don't germ them.

Poke hole in soil with pencil half inch deep. Drop seed and cover. Put in warm spot and wait.

That tap root has fine root hairs on it. The more you handle it, the more damage.

Pre moisten soil. Not soggy. Tamp soil lightly over seed.

It happens. The bacteria that cause damping off love the same conditions as sprouting seeds.

Nah, that's not it.

Op needs to correct the bad habit of fiddling with seeds to much.

I don't support mg but it will grow pot just fine.
I agree with you on fucking with the seeds but we can agree to disagree on seed starting in mg never done it so cant say for sure but with proper care you can for sure grow in mg not the best but it works

I've also read online that mg isn't good soil to use too but it was all i had at the time. I've since bought other stuff but just cheap stuff for a few bucks, nothing special. I don't handle them with my fingers, normally i use the end of a straw. The one's with a little lip and if not i lightly pick them up with tweasers

It wasn't the Mg that killed them it was touching them too much. I used to use Mg for years until I found a local nursery that sells fox farms ocean & happy frog! I always germ straight in soil.
