Seed question

I had some THC bombs in flower, and I noticed one went hermie. I immediately put "it" outside away from the others, but apparently I was too late. It pollenated my females. If I try to grow out those seeds will they all hermie too? Or can I at least salvage this grow, and use the seeds from the females? Any help +rep, thank you.

I've run plants from hermie seeds with no issues before. Some of it as I understand it may have to do with whatever it was that caused the hermie of the original plant in question. Such as, was that plant of bad genetics, or was it a case of hermie due to heat stress, light leaks etc, and if the latter is true, the seeds would have a better chance of being "good to use"

Did your plant "hermie" or did a female produce "nanners"....People confuse these two issues, they are not the same. A "hermie" is a plant that displays both male and female "parts" ( pistils and balls ). A female, left unpollinated and reaching the end of her life, will sometimes produce "nanners" in an attempt to polinate herself, thus producing seeds to carry on her good name.

Which one of these happened to you?

It was a hermie showing both female, and male.

A plant that shows both sexes together is either a real, dioecious hermaphrodite or a female that was stressed from the beginning.

Stress is the most common cause of hermaphrodites.

The most common causes of stress, imo, are over feeding, heat, and over watering.

I honestly doubt you had an actual hermaphrodite, that is a "hermie" that has an X and a Y chromosome.
Most stable varieties like THC Bomb rarely produce actual hermaphrodites.

What is more likely is that the plant was some how stressed and produced male flowers that do not have any male DNA. The resulting seeds will produce females that are likely to produce male flowers if they are stressed in the same way.

If you did get an actual hermaphrodite, which is very rare in indicas, the the seeds will produce females, males and hermaphrodites.

If you got a monoecious hermaphrodite which is more likely, then you have feminized seeds.

Thank you! That actually helped a lot. I'm going to grow some out, and see what happens. I hope the second generation can reach its full potential. I hear nothing but great things about THC bomb.

I had a hermi caused by stress, and the fucker pollinated 3 Ultimates last year. I now have over 100 seeds and all they grow are female beauties. Cost me 3 plants, but now I have some killer seed that would cost me a grand to buy at $10 a bean, and that is cheap for those seeds. By the way, if somebody wants to try a new Sativa strain try out DP Ultimate. Very heavy producer, great smoke and easy to grow. It takes 13 weeks though. Peace

I just harvested my WW x BB.. I crossed her twice. Being I hit her with some male Bubblegum pollen on a few bottom branches, and also on the other branches with Jack Herer pollen. Got a handfull of seeds off her (WW x BB).. The smoke is super good!! Still curing though, but already has that "dank" taste, and nice and smooth..
