seed sprouted - when to water?

excuse my ignorance since it is my first grow:

I germinated a Afgan Kush Ryder seed (auto) and planted straight into 3 gallon smart pot. It sprouted about 5 days ago, I have my cfls about 2 inches away from the sprouting and have the tent at a steady 73 degrees and 40% humidity. I have been misting the soil about 2 times a day to keep the soil moist.

When do I actually start watering the plant?

You may want to consider getting it into something much smaller like a solo cup. That is a big spot for a seedling and it makes watering tough as there is lots of soil but the plants won't be using much.

Hi welcome to RIU! Im a auto grower myself, autos rock!

When im at your stage i find feeding your baby a cup of water every 3-4 days is good. that tends to be a good waterinmg schedual for me.

but to prevent overwatering, you can also use the water when the soil around stem looks like its drying out to quickly. this way as the plants grow and the root systems expand outwards you can begin feeding it more an more water. The roots wont be taking up much room right now so you dont want to water soil which wont be used byt he root system yet.

ALso when thinking about adding nutes, wait until they have reached 2 weeks old and look healthly enough. D

ont feed them full doses first, slowly give them half a does every 3-4 weeks and slowly increase the dose so they get use to the new feeding. and in time they will show you how they are feeding.

From the research i did on autoflowering strains it was pretty clear you want to reduce any stress you can, so it was highly suggested not to transplant. This is why I went straight into 3 gallons. thanks for the replies!
