First time grower here. I would just like to show my appreciation to this forum (and the grasscity forum) for making this as easy of a process as it could be, thanks to the countless threads that could answer every single question that could come to mind during a grow.

Soil- FoxFarm Ocean Forest

Lights- 23W CFLs (100W equivalent)... 18/6 veg, 12/12 flower

Nutrients- Jack's All Purpose 20-20-20, Jack's African Violet 12-36-14, Grandma's Original Molasses All Natural

I always hated waiting for the weekly updates, so I decided to wait until the whole grow was done before posting the videos :mrgreen:

And as I mentioned in all the videos, this is a completely legal grow, I do not condone growing without a medical marijuana card!... :wink:

And yes I already know there are better ways to grow than CFL, but this is the best that I could work with and it is more than enough for me.

I am starting my first grow next week. My box is approximately the same size. All I can say is "Damn" I can only hope my grow is that successful. What was your watering cycle? Thats the only thing I have concerns about is over/under watering. Also what did you us for tie downs on your LST? I am doing the same due to height restriction. Any feedback is appreciated.

I had similar worries as you about over/under watering, so I went ahead and bought one of these (http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1vZ1xgt/R-100325514/h_d2/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053) to leave the guess work out of it, especially since it was a first grow. Definitely worth the $8 or so, once it reaches the "dry zone" I'd water it again. It's hard to give a watering estimate since the conditions change based off of your lighting schedule (24/0? 20/4? 18/6? 12/12 etc), also it could differ based off the temperatures. During the summer (beginning of the grow) I'd water once every two days (damn you hot Cali weather), towards the fall (and when I switched to 12/12) it was more like one in 3 or 4 days.

As for the LST, I used yarn type string. Try and use something that won't cut through or "scratch" the branches from the stress.

Also forgot to mention in the vid, when I switched to flowering, I used 4 2700k CFLs and 2 6500k CFLs.

I tried making the vids noob friendly to help future growers :)

i was going to use cardboard to construct my box, but opted not to because census was it wouldn't hold up... but know that i saw yours. I might have to reconsider....

my avatar is from a branch i had to chop from a mother.(pruning her)... thought she was dead, but wife wanted to give her an extra day....

I agree with grumpy up there! great vids as i am in my first CFL grow these really helped! just got one question i saw u said for flowering u used 4 2700k and 2 6500k cfl's i know the 2700k are the 150 watt but i cant seem to find the 6500k? any help?

hah, good to hear. Something similar actually happened to one of the two up there as well, except no where near as extreme. During the first week, I had the plants too close to the lights, that mixed with the extremely hot weather during the summer had one of them wilted and looking dead. I was about to toss it out and germinate a new one but decided to move the lights a little bit further (plus sprayed it with water) and thankfully it bounced back by the end of the day. Resilient little fuckers.

thanks, glad it provided some useful info. I think you are confusing lumens with watts (either way, pay no attention to the lumens, just focus on the watts). Also, there are watts of different levels for both types (I used the 23W CFLs). You should be able to find 6500k at home depot at the very least. If you are on a tight budget though, check the walgreens clearance section, they usually have 6500k & 2700k on sell for about $1.50 per bulb (at least in my area). Good luck!
