Seedling aren’t looking so hot. Any ideas???

Ive got 4 blue dream seedlings that I grew from seed. 3 out of the 4 are starting to look a little sick, any ideas? Leaves are looking a little droopy and the first fan leaves are turning yellow / pink.

Not sure why the photo makes it look like there’s a white substance on the pots might have something to do with the camera flash.

The white could be the start of some mold, those pots are notorious for mold issues. Not sure if that is your problem though.

your drowning the shit out of them. look how wet your soil is. in soil, those plants at that age maybe need a watering every 7 days in that size pot. Hell in a solo cup at that stage 7 -10 days. The root system is super small at that point, they barely sip water. Drowning roots can't breathe and start showing deficiencies.Let the pots dry out, the leaves that yellow will just fall off. Just a warning, because one plant out of 4 look fine with the current watering schedule, DOES NOT mean the other 3 cannot suffer from the same schedule. I learned the hard way as well. I water the soil good once when I plant the germinated seeds. After that, no water for at least 10-14 days after that and I use solo cups which hold less water than your pot.

Noted. Thank you for the reply. I’ve been watering them everyday BUT I have been sticking my finger down till the first knuckle to test the moister and it seems to be bone dry everyday. Maybe the humidity inside the tent is a factor? I’ve purchased a small humidifier, just waiting for delivery.

Side note: When you DO water the plants should you water them enough till water starts dripping from the bottom?

But the first inch of soil feels pretty dry everyday. I’m definitely going to take the advice I’m getting here and take it easy on the water. How saturated do you want to make the pot when you do water the seedling?

Doesn’t need much at all. If you really let it dry out for a week or so than you can soak it in. But if you do that don’t soak again until it’s dry againz. Don’t worry about run off at this point. What soil are you using by the way? Also just because the top inch is dry the bottom 3 are probably soaked, and that’s where the roots are at the moment. You def have the start of root rot, something I know all to well.

I’m using a premium potting mix from my local greenhouse along with extra worm castings and perlite rocks. Thanks for the advice.

the one inch of topsoil test is not how you determine watering. Learn the weight of your pot when wet then pick it up when the soil is dry after a few days, once you get an idea of dry weight vs wet weight you can gauge how much it drinks and when to water plant to plant. OBSERVE the leaves now as well so you know what over watering looks like and never forget.

Your soil may be drying out to fast due to those "pots". The white stuff on the sides does look a little like mold spots and if that's the case it would be a bad indication on what's going on inside. It does look like the most of the "pot" is soaked through so when you water I would try not to water so much that it does that. In those I would water just so the center of the bottom gets a little damp starting to show. Dripping or soaking the sides of the pot and I think you're pushing soaking it. If they haven't rooted too much I would re-pot those into what you're going to continue to use in order to help dry out and give them a tiny splash every other day or so. Imo, spend a couple bucks on a moisture meter, ph meter, lux meter, etc. to get all these basics knocked out and you can go effective case studies.

Yeah those are peat pots, I used them for the seedlings in my first grow and they also got mold. Peat pots are prone to mold. Not really a huge deal as long as you let them dry out completely, you'll get the hang of it easily

Next time use solo cups for seedlings, they're pretty much perfect

Had a couple more questions.

What type of water do you use.
Is it tap water?
If yes.
Do you have hard water?
The type that leaves a white coating on your faucets.
