Hi how's it fellas, I've worked with both cheap coco bricks and expensive stuff the only difference I found was Some cheap coco bricks haven't been rinsed of the salt (salt used in the break down process for coconut husk) properly so when you get it it pays to drop ya coco brick in a bucket then fill with water allow for the coco to expand then tip out excess water and repeat till your happy then mix in a 3rd perlite and a handful of Worm Castings into each pot,if you want a heavier medium that holds more water don't put in the perlite if you want lighter than add more, I like to expand my coco in a big plastic bin and I mix both a shit brand with a good brand and add my perlite then allow to sit in between watering and letting it dry, in the last 5 plus years no issues
