seedling laying down

Leave them buried in those mounds, bring the lights closer, and you should be fine. Transplant as soon as you can, maybe like 3 days, and keep those stems buried. Leave an inch of space from the first set of leaves to the top of the soil, and everything will be a-okay(except the ones that are already too far gone). And no nutrients for at least 2 weeks.

Take two of those, and call me in the morning.

Yup, thank you doctors (haha I've been watching too much ER this last month...never watched the show ever before and just started from season 1 - great show...can't believe I never even watched a single episode before).

Anyway, it's now nearly 24 hours since being propped up. The colors are still good and I don't see any real signs of dying. If they were going to die, how many hours would I have really noticed things starting to fall downhill? Right away?

Of the two that were laying down, one has it's leaves in a "V" shape, where the ends are more pointing up...and the other one that was laying down before now has it's leaves more as a flat "--" shape. Neither has the leaves pointing down. Is the "V" and "--" flat shapes both ok? Other than this minor difference, the colors of both still look great.

Yep, sounds good. If they were going to die, you would see the same limpness in the top that the rest had. Good job saving them!

I'm hoping so...I'll feel more comfortable if they are still looking ok in a few more days from now. And it'd be sad to lose these two super lemon :(.

One more thing: I have a shell stuck on one of the leaves of another seedling...The opposing leaf is fine, but the shell is stuck on the other side, compressing the leaf to the point that it is starting to look disfigured. Surgery or just wait?

your seedling should be able to drop her helmet soon enough by herself

I wouldn't leave it on for more than a day or two. If you have to remove it, though, use a tweezers, and be very, very gentle - if you tear off the baby cotyldons, you'll kill it.

Any news????
Yeah, but not-so-great news. A couple more fell down, and I got tired of trying to prop everything up (which wasn't working as well as I wanted them to), so I decided to just take all four that were hurting and transplant them to the point where the whole stem was nearly completely covered with medium.

I don't really have any definitive answers, but if that ever happens again, I'd probably go straight to transplant...since I think I may have even damaged them a bit more while propping everything up.

I'll update later if they make it...but I'm most likely over-thinking all of this....they are just weeds afterall, so shouldn't they be almost indestructible?

Update: So, I guess it's been about 10 days, since the 4 originally began to lay down...and about four days, since burying them deeper.

#1: Completely brown & lifeless. The only set of leaves began browning first at the pointed ends, slowly towards the middle, until completely lifeless.

#2: Followed the same pattern as #1, but currently the center is still green (with about 70% of outer ends brown. The 2nd set of leaves might actually be growing from the center (they are there, but I can't tell yet if they are getting larger). All in all, it's not pretty with the only green being at the center.

#3: still standing with maybe a 1/2 inch stem sticking out of medium. The stem looks crisp, but the color on this one is no longer pretty. Instead of looking brown....it's almost like the entire thing is graying out slowly...and starting to look lifeless (but stem still seems to support the 1st set). I can't see any 2nd set of leaves forming, unfortunately.

#4: Best color, but the the green color is now gradually starting to yellow out a bit. There are 2 very small sets of new leaves at the middle, but I'm not sure if they are growing (yet, or if at all).

Sorry friends, no pics, but based on descriptions, do you think any of these can still recover; they are supposed to be super resilient right? I'm curious about #3, since it's color change is happening in a different way than the others (graying out, without yellowing or browning).

Are repairs being made during night time or day time hours? If repairs are only made during light time, then I may just switch to 24/0 for the remainder (plus, still using only a very small cfl until next week).

PS If these don't work, I may get some la woman; how is this strain? The cup winning la confidential peaks my interest more than the cross, but I might be able to get some la woman quickly.

Damn, that sucks ass. I'm guessing that all that soft stem buried undergroud has rotted from the moisture and lack of oxygen(possibly a mold/fungus attack). I doubt any will survive. My only advice, is to make sure you have the new lights before you get those new seeds, or you'll end up with the same problems. Best wishes for round 2. :)

RIP, guys. :(

i'm running into the same problem as you my friend i just propped two of my seedlings (3-4) inches tall on straws and im gonna see how they do today,. i h ave about 4 other seedlings just breaking the surface and now i put the light to about 6 inches and i'm waiting to see if this was my problem... My LED boards are coming tomorrow and im gonnasplit the crop to see what happens! :)
