seedling lost her head

I had a seedling that got its top stuck in the roots and wouldnt pop out. When I tried to get it free I broke the top off. Now its just a stem and nothing else. I figured it was lost cause but I left it in my hydro system. After a week its still green. Almost as green as my healthy plants. I wouldnt say its growing, but its not dying either. Will it come back or is it just a waste of time to try to save it?

if you broke off the only growth calyx, I think its doomed.
