Seedling problems - looks like phosphorus deficiency?

Hi everyone,

I am having problems with a seedling I am trying to save. This seedling has been through alot - stunted growth secondary to overwatering. I approached this problem by transplanting the young seedling into bettter drained soil - it seems to have resolved now that the first node is starting to emerge and the plant gained height. From zero growth over 10 days to noticeable growth daily was an improvement.

However, over the last 4-5 days, the leaves have developed purple edges that seem to slowly infiltrate the leaves. This includes the new leaves. Attached is the best pic I could take of it. Looking at this forums troubleshooting - the pattern most resembles phosphorus deficiency. Could this be a consequence of transplanting a seedling too early??

Details:
This is Day 26! (stunted growth from the start)
Zero nutrients given. PH'd RO water only. One application of pH'd rhizotonic foilar spray.
Temps: 25-30oC.
Light: Vary from outside when sunny (full sun) to under a 90watt UFO spacebucket (18/6) when its raining.
medium: Soil + perlite
Genetics: Buddah Tahoe Calicon

Any comments would be great - I have been super patient with such a small plant during its stunted period. Sorry for being such a noob - I was so happy to watch it gain height/new nodes until this purple appeared!

Man if thats as far as you got in 26 days scrap it and start over better off cutting your losses

I started my seeds about 5 weeks ago and had a runt. I almost scrapped her but since I potted her up into well draining soil with a little bit of nutes here and there (after 3rd node) she's taking off. If you have the patience for her and she isn't holding anything else back go for it. You can keep a plant in veg for technically forever as long as you address it's needs. Keep me posted on how it's doing. Usually Purpling of the leaves indicates a phosphorus def which is a mobile nutrient needed for growth. What soil mix are you using?

Just let her grow. Dont over water anymore. Wait until the soil is dry. Its not really that much that you can do at this time. Good luck. What's the spectrum of your bulb? Its supposed to be 6500k. Good luck!!

It can be low temps. Whats your temps? Outdoor and indoor? She probably stunned because of that. Just let her grow indoors. They dont like that changes in temps. Ma 2 cents

I dunno I'm thinking it's not light related, I grew my first plant ever under an INCANDESCENT bulb in my closet and it grew, and even started to flower. I'd think if light wasn't adequate you'd see stretching... I could be wrong. Just my opinion.

"If your first choice of lighting would be incandescent light bulbs, well you’re in deep trouble my friend. For you don’t plan in making a basketball court, your making a grow room for cannabis. Yes incandescent bulbs give a lot of light, so as street lamps and park lights. This type of light is just good for one thing, keeping our streets well lit.


Why would this favourite light of yours be useless in growing cannabis? Well for one thing incandescent bulbs give a lot of light, well that would be a good thing again if were making parks not grow rooms. They give off too much light but of the wrong spectrum, not the right spectrum in which we need in order to grow our cannabis."

This is NOT my choice light for growing. Incandescent bulbs are horrible for growing. But if I can get a plant under one 100w incandescent in a small closet to grow a foot plus... This guy should be able to get past the second node with sunlight. As I stated if light was insufficient I think you'd see the plant stretching before growing new leaves. Again. Just my opinion.

Ok, the funny looking leaves is probably caused by you foliar feeding "rhizotonic" which is a rooting hormone stimulator.

The extremly slow growth caused by possibly overwatering and stress.

They get stunned for those atmosphere changes. Just decide for one. Either out or indoors. But u will never get good grow doing that changes. Just ma 2 cents!!! Good luck

I agree. Consider keeping it inside under the 90W light for a couple weeks. That purpling almost makes me think she's cold. Also, looks about ready to be topped to me. :bigjoint:
