Seedling pulled out of soil

I come to you guys (and girls) with a disaster that happened 2 days ago. My seedling is about 1 week old and was really doing great till my son pulled it out of the soil  what was strange to me (1st time grower) it the seedling did not have any roots, just a little ball at the bottom. I did not want to give up hope so I quickly put her back in the soil. At first she was all droopy, I put her under a 6500k cfl over night and she perked right up. she is looking good but I dont see any new growth, its like she is just living but not growing. Granted it has only been 2 days since she was pulled out, but Iam asking all if she will recover and if her roots were broken off or she is too young to even have roots yet. This was from seed, germed then planted in soil.

After about a week a root ball would start to form.... I have transplanted at 3 weeks and had a solo cup filed with roots. Mary is very forgiving when it comes to stress... But if she was yanked out then she is prolly in shock. Give her another week and see how she responds. Good luck!

It'll probably be fine. At a week old it didn't have much in the way of roots to begin with. Be patient  Just because there isn't any noticeable growth at this point doesn't mean it isn't still perfectly healthy. Maybe in shock a little.

I actually managed to drop two tiny seedlings on a concrete floor one evening while trying reaaally hard not to :joint:

they were brand new sprouts basically when it happened and i was worried, but they are actually outperforming the rest of the bunch now.

The biggest ones are the ones I dropped. The smallest one was probably left in a wet paper towel for too long and has been really far behind the others, but still hanging on.

It looks like she is pulling through. I really appreciate everyone's input. It has really eased my mind. Thanks to all. Happy Growing!

Hi Josh, this is a really old post that I really nead it right now.

Today I dropped my seedling as I put pot on clothes hanger (my stupidity), the soil are everywhere I notice some white root has detach but the root ball is still intact.:-(

Did yours survive? I hope you are still growing till today :)
