Seedlings with CFL questions + Electric bill question

Hey guys, me and my cuz plan to do an outdoor grow this season but near the site there is an abandoned house (which is owned by our family) where we would like to start our seedlings out at until they are about 6" or so then they are getting transplanted outside. Just 3 at a time. Was planning on using CFLs. What would be a good wattage for just getting them about 6" high and would I use 1 light per plant or what? And my other question is about the electricity being used. I know it would not be a lot at all, because it would probably only be for about 3-5 weeks hopefully...We don't know where the bill goes to, so would it even be a noticeable amount? Thanks guys

Edit: Plan to just do 24/0 for these.

Lol Im eager and to find out where the bill goes...
Yeah me too...it's on our ranch so it may just be mixed in with a certain bill? We aren't sure at all. But would it even be much at all or enough to be noticed? Just until they are about 6" high or so then no more indoors.

3 x 23 watt cfls run 24 hours a day would run you about $7.50 a month. Would really need to know what you pay for a kilowatt to be anymore accurate. But thats about 10 cent a kilowatt guesstimate.

I have one more question, what if I just used two 23w CFLs and put them over 3 seedlings by a windowsill? How do you think that would work out?

I recommend getting 4-6 23w 6500k cfl bulbs to just us for seedlings, you can even just purchase 3-4 of the 43w cfls. As the more cfls the better.
Your bill won't change much, as cfls are energy efficient and cheap to use. The cool thing about cfls is that because they don't add a big change to your bill compared to hps or mh lamps.
, so that means that you can do the 24/0 photoperiod. Be safe and happy growing! ;)

Hey but it's no prob using 2 23w bulbs but the plant will take longer to grow and the inner nodes might not be small or they could be stretched.

Okay cool, I think what I am going to do is use three 23w bulbs for 3 seedlings and they will be on a windowsill as well. Hopefully that will work out fine!

Go to the dollar store and get the reflective windshield cover (you know the one to keep the sun out from your car. Get to of those to make a square then but the lamps over the and inside the reflective square you made instead of being by a window.
