Seeds... but no males

I just pulled two seeds off one of my plants and I'm a bit confused... I haven't had any males. I keep a close eye on my plants for hermies and just checked every inch after finding the seeds and didn't find anything. This is my first grow in this house so I've never had males or hermies here and I have all new equipment.

I do know for a fact the person who lived here before me grew (they actually left a pot with what was left of a harvested plant in it and hydroton all over the yard), but I've lived here for 6 months.

Before even germinating the feminized seeds I cleaned my grow room from top to bottom, how resilient is pollen? I used a mixture of white vinegar, hydrogen peroxide, water, and bleach to clean EVERYTHING walls, ceiling, floor, every inch.

I know there are a few other people in my neighborhood growing, one person 2 blocks away and another 1 block away, plus there are 3 caregiver shops within a half mile of here. I suck in air from outside to cool the room/lights.

Anyone have any thoughts on the most likely source of pollen? Do I have pollen lingering inside somewhere from someone else's previous grow? Or could it have came from an outside source?

Thanks for any thoughts.

There could have been a single female pollen pod on the plant. That would give you fem seeds. Or a bit of pollen could have come into the house thru a crack, open door or window and made it's way to the plant. Pollen is so small and light that it can travel for a mile or more and pollinate a plant. I wouldn't worry about it. a couple seeds aren't going to harm a thing.

Do you know what the pollen bananas look like? They can be eaisily missed in a grow and they can pop up and open quickly. Just wondering bro cus I had that happen to me and I didn't know what the fuck it was and my first grow went to seed. You may have missed one or maybe one popped in and opened on your ass without you seeing it. Sorry to hear about the seeds though bro!

Yes, I know what to look for, I've dealt with them plenty in the past and fairly positive the pollen did not come from one of my plants.

Thanks for the input.

What happens is that a banana looking thing will pop out of your bud durring flower. I would stay away from shitty fem seeds. You get what you pay for. I bought two strains from Nirvana and my Northern lights did it to me and my Bubbelicius did also. Some plants will do it at the end of their life to self pollenate. Kind of a last attempt to make seeds if it isn't pollenated. You can google it and see what I am talking about. Sometimes they are not even noticable unless you know what you are looking for, They can pop out of the bud and there can only be one of the little fuckers and your whole crop goes to seed! Once you see one on your plants and they go to seed you will NEVER forget what they look like and you will be able to spot them quicker than shit!

that is how you get feminized seeds. They come from a pollen pod on a genetic female. A hermie is a completely different thing that has both male and female chromosomes.

Yes it is kinda how fem seeds are made. A good breeder will force the plant to hermi with chemicals or stress. A bad breeder will take a plant that hermies on its own and use that pollen to make hermi seeds. The thing is that if you take hermi pollen from the plant that did it by itself that trate will be passed down to the seeds. From what I hear if you have to force the plat to hermi then it has a way less chance of passing the hermi trate down to the seeds.

Also not all strains of weed can be made to put out fem seeds, some plants can't take the stress.

Ah, ok. So in theory these seeds should be feminized? Wish I wouldn't have destroyed them now...

+rep for the info

I kinda hope my plants produce a FEW of these good feminized seeds. Will save me the cash of ordering more.

If you grow them you wont save money! They will turn hermi on you, and then you have two options. Cut it down early= less bud and not good quality smoke or let it hermi out and take it all the way= bud that has seeds, and also the plant stops putting energy into bud resin to creat the seeds and that leads to seedy bud and not good quality smoke. Either way you will end up with crappy smoke.

Ah, well I think I found the cause, or another effect of an unknown cause... Just pulled a few unopened bananas off a different plant. Damn!
