I remember from an article in high times from around 1994 I think that female plants pollinated by a hermi gives somewhere around 75% female seeds. But those seeds had a descent chance to be hermi themselves don’t recall the chance.

My understanding although I wouldn’t be surprised if I’m totally wrong is. That the seed banks stabilized the strains created by pollinating females with hermi pollen. Increasing the % of female seeds and reduceing the chance of hermi’s. Is this what you’re going for or are you just using pollen from a male that came from a feminized seed?

I’m defiantly interested in your progress. Although I think it took the seed banks years to get the hermi’s worked out and up the % of female seeds. Anyways I’m starting to rant wish you stability in your strains.

Actually you are right about the hermis but these are Feminized because these were completely female with no male flowers for 6 weeks then they were light stressed and they put out male flowers that only contain female genetics. They were then allowed to go another 5 weeks which is 3 weeks passed their normal harvest time. This in itself is enough to cause some strains to do this but the seeds don't have time to mature unless you put the pollen on some younger females. They need 3-4 weeks to make mature seeds. I was fortunate enough to have them do it early due to light stress I believe. Big seed companies use different methods to stress them but this is how they produce feminized seeds and why only certain strains are offered. If they pollenate themselves they are the same as a clone. If they pollenate one of the others (since I started from seed) then they are a cross of the two. Watch and you will see.;-)

I tested my timer/relay out and I have about an hours worth of work to do tonight after the lights come on and my air cooled 1000HPS will be making a 10' long journey and back over a 20 second cycle. Eventually I intend on having 2 1000's a MH and my HPS hortilux and possibly some UVB bulbs as I have been looking into the possibility that this may increase potency by increasing trichromes which is where THC and other cannabanoids are manufactured and then stored. I will try to put up a video of it working somehow when it is done. This is going to eliminate any shading and allow me to grow my plants higher and closer to the light since it is never directly over it for more than a couple seconds at a time. I should get over a foot more growth room and can fill my room up to capacity.:blsmoke:

Can’t wait for the vid. Can you explain in a little more detail how you stressed your females? Did you change them from 12/12 to 24/0 or an erratic light cycle or what? I’m very interested cant wait for your results.

What is the actual % of females supposed to be in feminized seeds anyway? I haven’t seen any actual % that I can remember from the seed banks. They just say that they have stabilized it. Some also say that even if the seed is female genetically that environmental factors can produce a male plant. Like high potassium low humidity and high temps.

Once again I’m a noob though so how much this is based in fact I have no idea.

The way mine were stressed was the light was left on for like 36-48 hours straight and then off for 24 straight. This can cause males if you are not already in full flower but these were 6 weeks in to an 8 week cycle. Feminized are 100% female. You can also cause hermis if you stress them too much or too early. Blue Berry is probably one of the easier strains to mainipulate this way. I lucked up this time. If I can replicate it with some sort of certainty then I will have a technique. RIght now I am just a lucky bastard with a bunch of Feminized seeds. I hope to learn alot more about it but there is information out there on how some of the seed companies do it.:joint:

I tested the mover and had some issues due to the way I attached it that are easily fixed. Unfortunately, I have been having more pain than usual the last couple days so I haven't fixed it yet. I hope to do it tonight after the lights come on. I will take some updated pics later.

Well, I haven't messed with the mover yet but I did harvest 2 small plants that I am drying now and am going to regenerate and take clones from and then reflower. I have like 6 females that are regenerating right now and after I take clones from them and get them shaped into a nice bush they will get reflowered.:mrgreen:

I took pics of them before and after as well as the harfest and will take pics of them again once it is all dried.:joint:

Let me tell you what I have been up to instead of fixing the light mover. It goes to show you I what a lazy stoner I am.
I made my first batch of cannabutter(1/4 lb) Saturday night and made a batch of Snickerdoodles. 20 Snickerdoodles had 5gm of some killer Blue Berry bud. I ate 4 of them and then had 6 the next day. I also made a second batch (1 lb) with 15gm of my most medicinal BlueBerry bud. This batch cooked for 24 hours instead of 30 minutes and it was strained twice, once with 2 layers of cheese cloth and then through a coffee filter. So this is some clean refined butter. I put it in a ziplock container and it is cooling. Tomorrow while my daughter is at school I am going to make Daddy some brownies.:eyesmoke:

I just need to say here that my daughter was away visiting her mom when I made the cannabutter and Snickerdoodles. She just got home and all evidence is gone.:lol:

I am thinking of starting the first batch of Feminized seed batch tests. A buddy of mine got a sample bud of DPBB4 and found 2 seeds. He popped at least one to my knowledge and it is looking good.

I have:

8 DPBB1XDPBB and 8 DPBB2XDPBB that I think I will start and follow individually.:-?

Thanks Hunt4! I appreciate that. The butter looks incredible. I am going to use half of it in a batch of brownies tomorrow and can hardly wait. I finished all the Snickerdoodles today.:mrgreen:

I did manage to pot 24 Blue Berry Feminized Clones that just started rooting and put 24 more in the cloner; 21 BBF and 3 California Orange.

In a couple days the Bubble Gum will be dry enough for watering and I will start a flush with Sweet. I will use 4ml per litter or around 72ml per 5 gallon bucket.

I use Bio Bizz organic nutes according to their schedule plus Liquid Karma and Sweet by Botanicare according to recommendations on bottles. I am also, as stated above, flushing with Sweet and water only. A guy that has been growing forever, smoking for 40 years, and is going to be in High Times next month, said he did this last crop and it was the BEST tasting batch he has ever smoked. So I will let you know in about 3 weeks.
I will document the brownies tomorrow! If my buddy comes over and tills up a garden spot for me in the next couple days he might get to try them!

Oh BTW, 420 party at my house!:weed::hump:

Okay, here is the documentation of some real Stoner Brownies that have had me medicated all day. I made a little miscalculation when converting sticks to cups and doubled the butter so I had to throw in some flour to get the batter back to a descent consistency. Wow do they do the trick. They are a little cake like but strong as can be.:mrgreen:

I also started the first 2 sets of seeds in paper towels:

DPBBXDPBB1 8 feminized seeds
DPBBXDPBB2 8 feminized seeds

I'll start documentation when they pop

The recipe on the box with double the amount of oil replace with cannabutter and add enough flour to stiffen the batter back up to the right consistency. If you don't screw up like I did you can add the right amount and see the right consistency and then add the rest and get it back to what you just saw. I had to just judge what I remember from last time I made brownies. About an hour after you eat them you won't care how good they were or weren't anyways so give it a whirl. I am still working on my cannabutter recipe and skills to try to eliminate as much of the taste as possible. I am thinking instead of bud I should make bubble hash first or just use my collected keif. When you put bud into butter it and strain it with or without water you get the taste of bud. Too bad it isn't the smell of bud!:bigjoint:

Well, I had several seeds pop from the first two groups of 8 feminized seeds. I transplanted all of them into Fox Farms Ocean Forest soil and put under a dome. I will post pics once they are all out of the soil and then we will be off on a new adventure.
I harvested the Bubble Gum mom that was retired and then flowered on Thursday and it is drying now. We will be harvesting the rest of the Bubble Gum this week. It is the first crop I have flushed with Sweet so I am looking forward to smoking some of it. I am counting on it to make some treats for 4/20.:joint:

Here are pics of the Blue Berry Feminized and Happy Daze that I crossed with feminized pollen from the Blue Berry after it dried. I got 14 seeds from the Blue Berry Feminized and so far 16 from the Happy Daze but haven't gone through it all yet.

Yeah, Thanks Hunt4 I am glad they are popping well. Yes the Happy Daze is smooth as hell dude. I ran it all through the grinder awhile ago and ended up with 20 seeds from the cross with it. I am smoking it now while I dry out some Bubble Gum. I built a really nice dryer box today with some shelves in it and all. I will finish it tomorrow and put some pics up. I have to spend alot of time in bed so I like projects I can work on while in it.

Here is a quick shot of the Bubble Gum at 15 days and the ones coming out at the end of the week. They have gone from 6" to 2' in 14 days. I have them all crowded under the light because I am so lazy I haven't done the light still. I WILL tomorrow even if I have to double up on my meds tomorrow. Promise!:mrgreen:

I did it! I finished the damn light mover! It is a garage door opener mounted above the ceiling drywall in the attic above. I built a track out of 2X4's on the topside of the drywall and supported it so that a skateboard could ride along on the track and support the weight of the light while the garage door opener moves it back and forth according to the times I set on a relay/timer I bought. I eventually want to add another 1000 watter maybe MH and a medical grade UVB bulb but this will keep me going for a little while and provide better overall coverage by sneaking light in from different angles so that all buds get light. I use the long slot in the ceiling as an exhaust port and above have everything tented in with tarps and exhausted up and out of the gable vent at the top of the roof line. :mrgreen:

Now I just have to figure out how to post a video where everyone can view it and maintain anonymity.:bigjoint:

Thanks Hunt4! It did work like I wanted but I didn't leave it running since I already have them bunched up underneath it anyways and I am taking half of the plants out later this week and repotting the other half. I will start running it once the room gets filled up again.:bigjoint:

I never told you guys but the Bubble Gum mom that I retired/bloomed gave me 2 1/4 oz dried. I also ran it all through the grinder and harvested 62 feminized seeds from the Blue Berry that I femmed and spread. You can see the little bushy bitch in some of the last pics. Anyone care to guess what the total weight on the 15 Bubble Gum I am harvesting later this week will be?
