If you get your own RO machine
it cost about 9¢/gl to make your own
and you don't have to carry it from the store.

Look on ebay for different size RO machines,
and operating instructions for that machine,
on the auction site.

Some RO machines have a backflush feature.

I have mine hooked up to a dedicated RO rez,
with a float valve so I can forget about it.

This RO rez, feeds the float valve on the space shuttle.

This may not be practical in an apartment.

The polishing filter will make RO taste better.

If you are going to drink your RO,
then you should get the polishing filter.

RO is great for coffee, and cooking also.

Thanks for the tips, but does it have to be R/O or is distilled good enough? A block away I can get distilled and R/O would be a much larger problem. Are they both PH neutral? It seems like distilled water would have to be, if it is nothing but pure H2O...

I have used both distilled (sodium free) and R/O with no noticeble difference, I dont have the benefit of a ppm meter but the ph is about 6.5 in both when I get it ..

how do i put together the simplest and easiest to use hydro system? Are there links for setups in this forum?I am a dirt grower, so if you would like to steer me in the right direction for maybe a setup that is suitable size for a 1000w mh. Any help is appreciated.
I'll be building a very inexpensive aero system soon.. keep an eye out in the Hydro section!

I had to make a couple of trips to my local plumbing supply house
to get the stuff I needed to hook up my RO machine.

Hooking one up will require some tools,
and basic plumbing skills.

You may need to shut off the water supply,
and your landlord may not understand why you want to do this.

Or maybe your landlord will hook it up for you.

Just tell him your doctor said,
you need better drinking water,
to help you with your recovery/therapy.

Distilled and RO are the same.

They are just made by using different methods.

They are both pure H2o2,
although distilled is slightly more pure.

Distilled is made from steam,
RO is made by forcing water through a filter of porous stone.
