self watering pot + super soil?

I am horrible at searching for information on here... searched for about 2 hours reading posts lol. figured just making a new post may work best so here it is!
I would love to try subcool's super soil and will be doing so this summer! but i would like to use self watering pots so i do not over water and so that i may leave my house for extended periods of time and my house sitter doesn't have to know anything except water until it pours out the overflow hole.
using the method for the DIY self watering 5 gallon buckets or 18-45 gallon totes, the water wicks from the bottom to the top. Will the supersoil still work just fine? or will it wick the nutrients up to soon and hurt the plants?
planned on doing a few indoor in 5 gallon buckets and some outdoor in 18 gallon/30 gallon/45 gallon to see which would work best for my green house the next year too.

thank you :)

I'm not really sure how this would work but I assume it would be ok. The only thing that you would worry about is that if the roots were to grow down into the rez then you would run a rist of drowning the plant. The plant will use the nutes as it needs thats the wonder of organics. I might be totally wrong about everything but I don't care much for not being responded to here it is. I mean in the scheme of things I would just give it a go and you live and learn. You might be onto a new level of easy.

I have seen the watering spikes i haven't used them before though! i was going to buy a couple for my house plants. i am testing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MjUV1O7X4ns right now with a clone. day 3 clone is still looking happy in happy frog :)
i thought these were a pretty cool little DIY watering system. I hope the roots won't grow into the water and screw the plant up :(

You could also try Blumats, especially with SS because you'd only be using water. I have had good luck with the Blumat Maxi version. Just need an elevated res or a hose outlet, once they are set you are good to go.
