So we have our grow tent almost set up, we are just a bit confused on where to place the carbon filter (hanging inside or on the outside) and which way the fan should be blowing (to or from the CF)??
I don't know if it matters where the fan goes as long as it's pulling/pushing air out through the filter. I would think it would be easier for the fan to pull the air rather than push it through the filter though.
For odor control, hanging the carbon filter inside the tent is best.
Pulling through the Filter is best rather than blowing into.
If you must blow air into the filter, take the prefilter off and stuff it inside the carbon filter.
also, try to put carbon filter on opposite side of tent as the intake air.
if the air comes in on the left side, hang cf near the right. circulation fan close the intake is a good idea as well.
I have a 4 x 4 tent and my carbon filter is hanging from beams inside the top of the tent. Air is being pulled into the filter and it is ducted to the 400w light and ducted out from there to a 265 cfm fan i have set up to vent out of the top of the tent. Creating a negative pressure is the most important thing when trying keep the smell from seeping out. I also have a little 65 cfm inline fan for fresh air intake and a little clip on fan to circulate air above the canopy. Works great.
If you want passive air intakeyou can use these on a starter collar, or joint, depending on if your tent has sleeves or not.. They allow passive air to come in and keep light, bugs, pollen and mold spores out. They are 20$US, google 8 in bug net hydroponics.
