Setting up My first tent, please help me out :D

Hey guys,

So I finally received my "kit" (3x3x6 grow tent, 6" inline fan, air-cooled hood with a 600w HPS/MH, digital ballast, and a carbon filter, ducting, light hangers..)
I obviously did not run into much trouble setting up the tent as it was quite straight forward, but I really don't know where to begin with the set up of the light and the air circulation. How and where should my fan be located ? There are two apparent 6" holes in my tent one in the bottom section and one on the back face. Is the back hole where the ducting from the whole air circulation (ie. fan, air-cooled light hood, and carbon filter). How do I set up my carbon filter??
I know I am asking quite a lot, but I am totally new to indoor growing, I always opted for outdoor and have finally set off my journey indoor.

Thanks in advance for your help and support,
:leaf:

Hey Ram. First off you should position you light where you want it. You can either hang your filter or put it in a corner of the tent and exhaust out through your shade and out of the tent. you can have the inline fan anywhere. i always connect it right to the filter sucking through it. use the other hole for intake of fresh air. you should be able to just put a screen over the hole to filter the air. like a furnace screen. You will need a little oscillating fan for the inside of the tent to move the air around. if having the filter and fan inside the tent is too crowded you can put your filter outside of the tent and blow through it but its not the ideal.
hope this helps good luck

Hey franky thanks for your input,
There is enough room in the tent and am considering putting the fan in the corner of my tent exhausting my shade and out the tent. I realized that my tent has two holes in the upper section, one on the top of the tent and one on the back, which one am i supposed to be using for my fan/carbonfilter?? I also received the ducting and the ducting clips, is that all that I am supposed to use to hook the fan/carbonfilter/airhood to the ducting/circulation ??? Or should I go and get some duct tape as I've noticed on some videos ??

You should vent out the top hole and and the one on the back i would use for intake of fresh air. i never used clips. i would use some tape to seal up all the ducting . there are some youtube videos showing how to set up a grow tent maybe they have one similar to yours. lotta info on youtube.

hey guys, thanks again for the useful advice. Do you guys know any particular videos that show a "correct" full tent setup. Sorry for the hassle I just have been watching some, and with the size of my equipment, i will not lie, I am quite overwhelmed hehe.. :-(

Hey Ram.
I dont know of any particular ones that are the best but im sure your gonna have to weed through a bunch to find one that works for you. Are you gonna put the tent in a closet or a garage. what is the room like it gonna be in. having such a small tent it is espicially important to move the air in and out otherwise the plants will just suffacate. try and limit the amount of big bends in your ducting as this will slow and impede air flow. Its not the end of the world though so if it has to be done dont stress. You can always cut another hole too if its gonna make it easier for you.

exhaust out the highest port, setup a passive intake on lowest, after you are all hooked up, you will def need to dial in the temps in the whole room before you can focus on temps in the tent.
are you venting back into the room? or out a window?

if a window and ur main room is modest temp possible to get away with it, i personally have to use a/c but i have a damn batwing atm

well since I live in Canada, and winter is soon approaching venting out my window is not a long-term solution. I was therefore thinking of venting into my room. Which will be at modest temp. Should the air circuit be like as follows ??:
CARBON FILTER --- duct--- AIRCOOLED HOOD---duct---6" fan---duct--- highest port (on the tent) + passive intake from the bottom and a little fan ?
Where do I get the equipment to hang my filter ??
