Setting up my room

Hey dudes, i have been reading up on RIU alot now and feel that iam ready to start setting up my room.

The room iam using is 8 feet tall, 4 feet wide and 2 deep. I was planning on splitting it into two rooms. One 2 1/2 feet tall for clones/mother and the top at 51/2 feet tall for flowering. I know iam using flouros in the feg room for my clones and mother plants, aswell my grow medium will be 100% organic soil w/ orgainic ferts. In the flower room i knwo that i will be using soil and must have a small canfilter to keep the smell of the sweet herb at bay

What I need your experienced advice on is what light i should be using in the flowering room. I was thinking of 600watt mh but that might be hard to control temps. Would a 400 be a good comprise?. Also is it sufficient enough to rely on passive intake, I will run i high cfm inline fan to ensure good exaust. Also is it possoble to cool your lamp hood then run that air though the carbon filter and out?, so run your entire exaust through the light hood?. Basicly iam confused on venting my room and what light will be enough for flowering.

go with the 400 and it will be plenty for your space. I have a 400 and 600 the 600 seems to get alot hotter

400w hps would be a good light. with a cool tube.

More is better. but thats a small area. 600 would be the way to go. but the 400w would work out good for ya too. If you might be thinking about a bigger area the 600 for sure. not sure on the carbon filter I don't use one on the vent system. are you going to veg and flower in the top or are you planning on veg in the bottom?

Whatever you get, remember you have to cool it.

Yea, my plan is to veg in the bottom and flower in the top. I was thinking maybe can filter --> cooltube --> inline fan ---> attic?. what u guys think?, will i get enough circulation?.

On a side note, can u take clones of a plant when it is flowering?, that way i wouldn't need room for mothers, just a thought.

I'm thinking a stable mom would be the way to go. I'm doing my first mom now. I've cloned flowering plants but it was luck that it worked out. last try failed 100% cuz I thought I knew what I was doing. lol

ill have to say the 600w yeah its a lil more..but your getting more light for teh kilowatts..just a sugguestion though

you'll need more venting then just the cool tube. Even with a cool tube the area will get very warm plus you want fresh air getting to the plants. the top will need to be light tight for flowering. so you'll need to figure that out also.

2-1/2 feet is not enough height for a healthy mother.
Keeping a mother happy enough to where you'll be able
to take cuttings at least once a month you'll need the height to be at least 5-6 feet tall.
That's considering the fact that you'll still need room for the light above the mother.
Plus, the space away from the light.

These are the problems that people run into when they're designing their grow room.
They don't figure in that space for the light and the space that the light has to be above the plant.

You don't need mothers espicaially for such a small place, do what I do just take clones from your veging plants and then throws those into flower, then eventually take clones of your clones ect ect

I'd use cfls, or 250MH light for your veg, and don't go bigger than a 400, cooling a 600 would be a nightmare, for that small of a area 400 is plenty. And stumps is def right on about the cooltube, I wish I would have gone with one, my temperatures a bit high with my 400. My grow space is just a little bigger than yours, check my journal.

You might be able to something like mine.

I have a small clone area than a veg area under CFLs. And you can veg them pretty big under just CFls

Sick dude, those pics gave me some pretty good insight. My grow shop has these insane cool cfl lights. Its like skinny long cfls attached into a hood that all plug into one socket, Ill have to upload a pic of it!, soo slick for my veg room. They only take up 2 inches of hight and there safe to mount on the ceiling of my veg room ( floor of the flower room)

OH, and btw i have planned on the room lights, fans ect.. will consume in my room, thanks for mentioning it though, 2 1/2 feet for a mother is slightly retarded, so i guess i will have to just try and clone my flowering plants, herm.

Do u guys think if i uploaded a pic of my closet you could help me out a little more with the ventilation and stuff?, Ill make a paint diagram or sum shit once i get blazed
