In my grow, 2 out of 4 plants hermied on me. I know a professional grower, and boy am I glad I talked to him FIRST, before chucking my 2 huge healthy, full of buds, plants! It was too late, and some of the dam balls on the plants tricked me. I thought they were female parts UNTIL I saw a pod that had broken open (pollen was on the branch).
He told me, don't worry about the fucking pollen, and to pick off all of the male parts I can find, which I did. He said I'll get some seeds, but the smoke will be just fine. In fact, some say that a hermied plant is more potent than a non-hermied plant. And, the seeds that I'll get will be female. Yes, the 2 hermied plant seeds may be hermie plants, but my 2 other plants that are female only, their seeds will be total female (I think)!!
Since I did catch the problem early, I have noticed that very few seeds have developed on the plants. A hermie that has pollenated a plant is not the same as a male plant going nuts over a female plant in heat.
The main reason growers hate hermies is because of the extra weight (people don't want to pay for seeds if they are buying bud from someone). I'm growing for myself, so I don't care about the extra weight.

BTW, I was told, once you pick off the male part, they DO NOT grow back!

That's why when you start with seed do double what you want to end up with or more.
Find your most vigorous bitches, take cuttings from them, and they are all the same, cuttings taken from females are Females...almost guaranteed
