Germing 4 MSNL beans for my spring backyard outdoor grow. Here’s my grow for this spring:

2 Gorilla Glue Auto
1 Blue Dream Auto
1 Purple Hulk Auto

Half strength soil is currently cooking in the yard:

2 bags local organic potting soil
1 30 lb bag EWC
Boatload of perlite
Vermiculite
Few shovels of my own worm compost
Blood Meal
Fish Bone Meal
Kelp Meal
Lengbeinite
Azomite
Gypsum
Humid Acid

Inoculated with EM1 and molasses.

These will be going in 10 gallon smart pots in a few weeks. I might dilute the super soil if I don’t think it’s had enough time to cook.

Placed the seeds last night in their starter pots and will move asap outside when they sprout. Nights are a bit chilly in the high 40s so I’ll support them with Wall O Water until they’re in the 50s.

Cheers!

Tomatoes got to 8 feet last year so there should be plenty of sun for these autos :weed:

All 4 germed, one was twins so I transplanted it. Night temps still on the cold side, with days in the high 60s so I set them in Wall O Waters. Almost instantly it’s 10 degrees hotter in there.

Nice, what are your night temps? This is my first time using a water barrier to heat things up and I'm already impressed. Apparently tomato growers use these to get a month head start.

You can use any plastic that holds water like jugs and 2liters filled up, to surround your plants. Glass is nice because it doesn’t breakdown as easy or leach plastic BUT the glass gets very cold when it does cool down.

I think the Wall O Waters were a fail. It was too moist in there and not really conducive to seedlings this small. One died from damping off so I transplanted the other 4 into their final 10 gal pot and let the dry soil wick out the moisture. They look a bit ridiculous in there but I think they’ll fill em out.

Also started 4 more seeds indoors in case these die.

It is true! But I have not seen them used with a wire cage inside them. When I used them for tomato's We did not use the wire so that you could close the tops overnight and open them during the day. The reason for closing at night was if there was a light frost it did not get to the plant and it held heat inside.

Just added new addition to family big girl pot (25 gal) greenhouse arrives tomorrow 15x8x8

The girls are doing ok. The series of foggy cold weather has led to some Septoria problems and yellowing/spots, but a dose of liquid copper cleared it up. They're pretty small but should be fine for a July harvest. I mostly care about the second round of photoperiods I'll be starting in 2 weeks and this trial run showed what sorts of problems I'll be dealing with.

Not to be an asshole but can you make another thread for your grow? You're hijacking this one.
