Shand's Closet LED Grow

Hello there, thanks for stopping by.

So let me start off by saying this is my first attempt to grow anything ever.
I will try to keep this updated, but I'm not promising anything worth reading

My Closet:

I wish it was bigger but all it can fit is this tiny 36" x 20" x 63" tent. I will give this tent a go and decide whether I need something bigger once I have a better idea of what's going on.

Inside my closet:


I'm still waiting for my lights etc. to arrive so unfortunately there isn't much to see here yet
I'm hoping if I start this journal now I might have some motivation to continue it once I get into full swing.

So hopefully this post will be more interesting, I don't really feel like writing much but here are some pictures!


I germed the free seeds I got from Attitude in about 24h and they are now growing in a rockwool plug in coco in a cup in a tent in my closet in my room.
They live under a nice little Light bulb named T5

This is Kannabia "La Blanca"

She got buried a little bit and I may or may not have seriously injured it but that was more than 24 hours ago and shes still nice and green.



This is Kannabia "Special"

I think they both look pretty healthy but any feedback would be appreciated.

About how long does it usually take for the next set of leaves to come in?
Seems like they don't grow because I see them a few times every day.
Hopefully having pictures up here to compare them to will help.

Looks like a very good start. How about some info on the strain you are growing. Info on your light and maybe what nutrients you are using. I see the light has a switchable spectrum. How many watts is it?

I will be growing Barney's Farm G13 Haze the seeds for which I have
I may also be getting some "Blue Kush" clones some time soon.
The light is the 357 Magnum which I just received a couple days ago. It's the same one used by dunit over in his sexy looking grow which should be harvesting right around now!
I'm really anxious to see how his harvest goes.
I have a pretty nice lineup of nutes from AN: The Sensi 2 parts and "Hobbyist Bundle"

Anything else you want to know I will be back here tomorrow night.

Looking very closely at picking up another LED light. Looking at either the 357 or the ISIS panel. You should do very well with yours. I'm subbed...........

Just wanted to do a quick update here

So my little plants were not growing fast enough for my noob self under the t5 so I decided to throw them to the lions under the LEDs. Growth definitely seems to have sped up, however, that may be because I have been really busy lately so haven't had as many opportunities to check up on them.

Here is what the inside of my tent looks like;
The light is right around 12" from the top of the larger plant and is suspended by 2 "Rope Ratchet" hangers




the babies are about one week older than in the previous pics

So I'm beginning to see some roots coming out of the little drain holes I made at the bottom of my cups.
I was planning on giving them another 3-4 days to really fill the cups with roots before I transplant them to 2.5 Gallon pots.

Is that a reasonable amount of time for them to be in these dixie cups??

As always any input is appreciated!

So I just transplanted into the bigger pots. The roots had totally taken over the dixie cups and in fact had begun to shoot through them. I suppose that's lesson learned on why to use plastic cups instead of paper..

(a bit of overkill on the fan and lights for now..):



I picked up the speed controller thing to control my exhaust but right now it's just connected to my circulation fan
and beside that is my trusty electronic timer and they're all jerry rigged with zip ties!

I thought this was kind of cool, side-by-side pictures of the ladies taken 1 day apart

Kind of nice to have photographic evidence that they are growing and not having to rely on my (somewhat fried) short-term memory..

I really get a kick out of switching between the photos in the album and watching them grow.. easily entertained much..?

Temps have been mostly around 78-80 and down to 72-75 with lights off.
I've been watering a small amount each day to keep the medium moist.
I have been adding very small amounts of Voodoo Juice and B-52 on every 2nd or 3rd watering.
I'm thinking I should start with the veg nutes soon.
I have already seen roots peaking out the drain holes at the bottom of the pots.
I honestly am not sure what size these pots are now, I'm guessing they are about 2.5 litres..
The plan with these plants is to get them big enough to take a nice amount of clones from them and then flower them along with the clones.
So I may end up needing to repot again to something larger.. Around 3 or 4 Gallons should do the trick.

Any comments? Questions? Complaints? Please feel free to add them here.

Can anyone tell me what the cause of this discoloration might be? It's only appearing on 2 leaves on opposite ends of the plant to about the same extent. Is this something I should be worried about?



I think it's just the ends of the first leaves that sprouted out but I'm not sure right now.

Looks like you have the starting of a pH problem buy the looks of the leaves.

I'm going to try to take a picture at this angle every day for as long as I can, it should make a pretty awesome gif eventually

Hey sorry for the lack of updates.

I've been pretty busy (read "lazy") I only took pictures for a few more days after my last post. Since then I have taken about 6 clones from each plant and they have been incubating for 5 days now.. still no sign of roots.

I'll post the updated poor man's time lapse with the extra photos and I will try to get something better up this weekend.
